Just over 8,000 miles. No signs of oil leaks.

This thread reminds me of a far-side cartoon I saw once where people in hell had a suggestion box.
Evidently there is no one who has a contact within the MoCo who has looked at all these problem posts.  Does anyone even have a dealer who is willing to take this information to someone in the MoCo who gives a crap, and has the authority to at least respond?
So far only GMR seems to have a handle on it, and seems to have come up with a fix.  The only trouble is, the MoCo should acknowledge the problems themselves, and come up with a recall to permanently fix these things!
Unless this happens, if I have a "leaker" I'm giving up on HD and going to another brand.   :soapbox:

You forgot a catagory!

"Gave up on Harley-Davidson's ineptness with regard to these 110's, and is building his own 110" engine without any HD parts at all, except cases. 8800miles! ;)

Mine was at the 5k... Called Harley about the problem and all the buzz I've seen on the internet about the 110" and the CSR stated that it seemed to be about 15% to 25% of the 110's had this problem with the cylinder sleeves not seated properly,  How could they put a percentage on it if they weren't awhere of any problems.....HMMMMMMMMMMM the dealer wasn't awhere untill the tech that was working on the bike ordered parts for my FXDSE and Harley told him the normal protocol for the 110 with my vin# was to replace both cylinders...

Have the traditional rear cylinder gasket leak as well as at the base of the front cylinder. Bikes been in the shop for about two months now while thier deciding what to do. At least it lasted a short season and I'll now be getting free storage till May. ;) I guess that would mean TWO more! Aren't  I the lucky one. :(   :nixweiss:

You would think Ma Harley would have Quality Control and they would have a cutoff Serial Number of engines that they are having problems with and one's that have been corrected and ones that need re-called for repair or replaced at the cost of Ma Harley!! Oh Well!! I guess that doesn't work in our US Market only in Japan.!! :-\

Thats been the thing that has puzzled me based on the number of 08's that have had problems right out of the gate bone stock.

You can only track a cutoff serial number if you've solved the problem....

Got my FXDSE back after they replaced both cylinders assy for the leaking problem after 5k miles. Now the pipes are glowing bright red at the bend from the right out of the engine.  Called the dealer that did work and they claim they didn't change anything.  Told me the only thing they had to disconnected besides the spark plug wires were the censors for the exhaust.  "Maybe you let it idle to long on the way home and it got too hot, the 110's do run hotter". Hello this is Northern IL and it's F*#k'n 25 outside!!!  when I took her home..... Funny, the bike idled at just below 1,000 rpm when I bought the bike. Now it's idling just over 1,000 rpm from when I picked it back up? Something changed? ??? well bring it back in and we will check the map on the ECM..
