Why is there no trials to get the replacement?
Are the American consumers  inadequately protected?

I understand that and totally agree. :2vrolijk_21: I can't remember the specifics on that warranty I spoke of either. I'm not sure if it was 5yrs/50K for bikes that fit the build date that hadn't been repaired, or bikes that had been repaired getting the extended warranty. :nixweiss:

You are correct d00d. The warranties were extended to 5Y/50K for bikes TC bikes manufactured before 12/19/1999 I believe. I had a March 1999 FLHTC which was affected by this program.

Well, they already offered me a 4 year warranty on mine, Was this for free? d00d - and I told the dealer to remind them about it.  ;)  But I don't want an extended warranty that means I get if fixed for free, I want a fixed bike that doesn't need fixed again!

I've got no head gasket problem yet If no problems, why the offer on 4 year warranty (if it was for no extra charge)?<fingers crossed> but as far as I can see, it's going to happen - why would my bike be the exception?  :o

Based on your experiences, I think you would agree it is not just American consumers who are inadequately protected. :)

I understand your point though.  I think you are asking why American companies are not required to more adequately protect all consumers.

I think the decisions customers make when they decide who to spend their money with is what causes companies to better protect consumers - not regulations.

I had two bikes that got the letter to extend the warranty on the bad cam bearings for 50k mi.  My dealer was righteous enough to say "they heard a noise", and replaced the bearings under warranty- so I didn't have to worry about sitting on a time bomb.  I think the difference here is that the cam bearing problem involved ALL the normal TC88 production.  CVOs are a very small percentage of production, and not everybody puts miles on their bikes.  I think it's poor of the MoCo to ignore these problems.  They've gotten too big for their britches.  Hell, we don't even have a contact who will fess up to the problems!  By now there should be a response- I guess there is- denial.
Speaking of which, has anyone ever noticed that none of the Harley rags has ever printed a letter from anybody about the 110" motor problems?  I guess it's OK to ask about tire wear and how to check your air pressure, but for God's sakes, don't even intimate that there is a PROBLEM!  I've seen some nice articles on iron head Sportsters though.  And some neat ones on leather jackets!  -Cool!!  :jalapeno:

Yes, it was for free, Rob.  It was offered at the time when they wanted to rebuild my original motor because of the faulty crankcase half it came with.

I think they DO give a rat's a$$ - but they don't know how to fix it, and next summer won't be long in coming round, at which time, if they haven't got a proper fix, it'll all go very public.  Thereupon there will be  a dreadful smell of broken glass and I suspect there will be some staff at the Moco being invited to try a career change.

Jim

I agree, but shouldn't we the members Owners think of a way to hasten their decision to bring about a sure fire fix??
Just a thought. Or better still, a Class Action Suit against MO-CO.

This would be a good start.
They will never resolve an issue if no one knows about it.

Just got this email today:

"Well, it is official. Motor overheated. What a surprise! They are wondering why the rear cylinder didn't shut down the way it is programmed to do. Lots of new parts on order like new jugs , rings, push rods, valves (originals turned gold), and more. Parts won't be here before the weekend. I guess it will be next week before I get a chance to break it again; I mean, break it in again."

This 110 has only a couple of hundred miles on it and this is it's second break down. It is clear to me MoCo still has no clue of what or how to fix the 110 problem. I am so damn glad I back out of buying the 08. This bike made it 100% for all the people I ride with that 110's. I don't know of a single 110 that has not crapped out, most were in the 3,000 range but the latest 2 were under 500 miles. :o

9800 hard miles
no leak
do run a cooling fan in hot weather, oil temp gauge never reads over 180.  maybe keeping it cool is the trick

Thought I would bring out a piece of info for the Owners of 110's.
The head design was intentionally done to make this engine fail.
I had bounced this around with a local Speed and Custom shop on cleaning up the heads to remove pinging and detonation. The conclusion is MO-C0 want you to spend money to correct their mistakes.
It would take about $1500.00 just in heads and reconfiguration to do this engine right.
Oh, did I mention that you lose your warranty????
Think about it.
