What do you guys think it would take to get the MOCO attention ,a call in campain , picket Milwaukee or one of the big rallies . we need to unite to let the MOCO know we are serious.

Some rich guy, or preferably a whole bunch of little guys, buying a page in the New York Times might be an effective gesture.  Man I'd love to build and write that page....  :drink:

The Wall Street Journal would have more inpact, if Murdoch would allow it.

Being this forum entirely devoted to the CVO bikes almost exclusively, this is the best place to learn about these bikes.  As a relative newcomer to the CVO's and a person who is waiting for an 08 SEUC to arrive in September, there is thread after thread regarding problems associated to these 110" motors.

I am seriously thinking of canceling my order, even though I got it at MSRP (I feel for those buyers who are paying a "premium").   If the bike is going to end up in the shop getting repaired, it ain't worth it.  I am starting to regret the sale of my 2005 Ultra.  By the looks of it, I think I may have goofed up.  :nixweiss:

Find yourself a nice 05 SEEG at a good discount (they're out there now).  Left to their own devices have been the most problem free year of the recent CVO touring models; and they still look the best too  ::) .

Only problem with that TL, is that we would all need our desk reference dictionaries close by.

I personally would not say you made a mistake, not all bikes are having problems in the CVO motors. The primary problem appears to only be the head gasket leak, which if not addressed, CAN and will lead to engine oil pump problems, and then serious internal problems for sure. So, they give you a new motor if the latter happens, and fix the leak if the former occurs. If it repeats, they add a cyclinder.  A higher percentage appears to be talked about here, but overall, I think that what it comes down to is that MOCO is trying to EPA compliant, and pushing it a little too far on some stuff.  They have been exceptional at this end with warranty if required.  Different story if they were in denial, and blew us off.

So I would not be too nervous, the bike overall is superb, although just like most Harley guys, we can't leave them alone, they were designed to be played with, I personally would jump right in, this 08 series did have a drive by wire throttle, but other than that, it is still fun to work on.  When they go heavy into new technology however, it will be like my auto. I open the hood, don't recognize anything that even looks like a motor, and shut the hood.  Now, what fun would that be? Might as well get a Goldwing then.

Believe it or not, I'm in complete agreement with what Ronnie says here! :o

My '07 SERK is the best riding HD I've ever owned. I've owned many HD's and this is my 5th RK since '95. None have ridden as well. The engine is strong and the bike runs great. It did before I did my mods. I had the leak and there was no question that it would be taken care of. It was my decision to modify it. I wanted it to be even better than it was built to be. But I was very happy with the bike from the moment I got it. Was I pleased to have a leak at 5K? Not particularly. But it did give me a chance to improve my bike even more, and HD picked up the labor under w.....ty. There was a lot of frustration over it. But that was due to my original dealer's ineptness to deal with the issues. Since using another dealer, I've even been very happy with the service I've been getting, and don't hesitate in bringing my bike to them. My new dealer's got their act together in all departments. That does help make the experience so much more tolerable. The dealer could also make your life miserable, so make sure you have a good one. And because of this great site, you know exactly what to be looking for, and can keep an eye out for these things. So al-in-all, I gotta say, I wouldn't think twice about buying this bike again! I love my SERK3 , and plan on keeping it forever! ;)

As I told one of my fellow engineers while I was doing failure analysis on a system he'd returned after new parts didn't fix it : New doesn't allways mean better

I really want to believe what you are saying.  I looked closely at the Goldwing last weekend and just couldn't get there with this bike - it just didn't do it for us after riding our Ultra for the past 3 years.  I know that the 'wings are probably great bikes and are a good fit for some folks, but when I look at it, I think I may as well just hop in the car instead - at least I can turn the A/C on.

We'll likely take delivery of the bike and hope for the best.  Still, there is no bike on the market that has the appeal of a CVO Ultra.

This is why I decided to hold on to my low mileage 2001 SERG. I plan on upgrading to a 6 speed and 110 cu. in. from R&R, a well known HD Performance shop in Manchester, NH. If the engine fails I know exactly who to see.
When completed the bike will beat my buddies 07 $35K CVO. I may even powder coat the engine and transmission the same color as the 08's. But I won't be stuck on the side of the road! Harleys getting as bad as BMW with their rear drive units failing since the late 90's and they still can't get it right.

Or even better, slide the original out, mount it to a coffee table as a conversation piece, and buy an engine from S&S or one of the other aftermarket companies.  I'm not hearing or reading about a bunch of failures with their stuff!

There is a fundamental reason why MoCo stock and sales are down.. when your ears are closed and your pockets open with a large vacuum intake , it's only a matter of time before the people re-act.

Instead of new features , they should fix the existing problems.

well we all know harley FLOODED the market in the early to mid 90's...and with that bullit proof evo motor the only thing service departments were doing was (bolt on stuff)..now their sales are down because of the 90's market flood....so how can harley make money now??  oh lets make this twin cam motor that needs WAY more maintience then the evo"s...now their service departments are FLOODED,,,with motor work,,,cam chains,,tensioners, noisey valve train,,leaky gaskets,,etc..,one way or another moco WILL get their profit....give it 10 years in the direction moco is going...and it will be owned by bowling pins again!!!!..pans and evo's forever!!!!
