I was going to post this under the cat puke section for obvious reasons.

This is what I first saw. I knew my Shelby wouldn't do this.

Looks like the rain came in and down the air conditioning duct work:

Damn AJ that sucks.

Have you ever had that issue before now?

Can't remember if you have gutters.

If you do, they may be full of leaves and preventing the water from flowing out.

And water that doesn't flow out, WILL FLOW IN!

Are you responsible for the exterior part of your building.

Whether yes or no you need to call your insurance company and let them know of the damage.

Good luck, any questions call me.

I have houses under construction in Summerville and doing a townhome job in Mt. Pleasant so if you need a good sheetrock guy let me know.

Remember just because the rain stops doesn't mean the water has gone away.
Water in your insulation is a bad thing.
I'm not even going to mention the "M" word.

Tell your insurance company that you are very concerned.

Again good luck.

AJ...not saying it isn't rain, but make sure the duct is wrapped well with insulation...could be condensation from the bare metal where the boot connects to the feeder off the trunk line.  Cold air, high humidity, high temps in attic = condensation.  Also, check the vent pipes coming out of the roof...boots are often not properly installed.

Yikes!  That sucks.  One of the first things I did before we closed was closely inspect all of the duct work in the attic.  The only challenge was the drain line coming out of the air handler.  It wasn't leaking, but the drain water was cold, and it is hot and humid up there, so I made the builder find a way to redirect the runoff condensation.  Then................and this one about drove me nuts.............the first time it rained after we closed, I noticed a stain in the sheetrock around the hot water heater vent.  The installer didn't seal the storm collar.............voila...........instant leak.  Getting them out to my house to fix their oversight was harder than woodpecker lips.............as with getting anything done under warranty after closing.  Ended up doing it myself.  No more leak.

Now I finally found this thread. Roof leaks suck, but with the foot of rain you guys got over there I can understand it.

How are things progressing?

Did someone clean out the gutters?

Of course not. That would require renting a Lull and getting someone up there to do the dirty work! But when they do, I may have them install a weather station antenna up there.

& Chief, I still don't have the email.
