It took about 3 weeks from the time I sold the old Trike until I picked this one up.  I think I gained about 8 pounds just sitting around waiting for it.

Ride Safe.

Ok, and how much did the bike gain before and after?  Just curious how much engine work gets to be justified by doing a project like this?

Ooops!  OK, sorry for the wise a#% comment.  To tell you the truth, I just don't know for sure.  I have looked through the documentation I received from Lehman, and searched their website, but can't find any weight listed for the completed trike on an ultra.  MotorTrike (the conversion I owned before on an 03 Ultra Classic listed a ''wet" weight of 1,011 pounds and the H-D website lists a 07 Ultra "wet" at 841 pounds.  That suggests the addition of a wheel, tire, frame, axle and "box" minus a swing arm, fender, saddlebag supports and the saddlebags would add 170 pounds.  Again, I'm not sure, but the Lehman conversion looks cleaner than the MotorTrike so the 170 pounds might be about right.  If I find out any more specifics about the Lehman conversion, I'll let you know.

Ride Safe.

No problem.  After rereading the question I'd likely have been disappointed if someone hadn't run with that straight line.  Wonder though if the difference is just the 170 pounds or so?  By that I mean do you know whether the third member in the package has more or less parasitic loss than would the original final belt drive?  Really still just wondering if an originally prepared engine feels signfiicantly underpowered when such a job is done?

TWOLANERIDER,

A Trike with a 96 inch motor, two up and loaded will run with a stock 88, a 103 Trike two up and loaded will run with a 96.

I do not know about a 110 yet as I have never had one.

On the Posse ride in July, I let my 103 run "a little" out on HY 50, two up and loaded, about 4500' elv and the GPS had 107 and it was done. I have never let it run back in Chicago as I can't find a place to let it run when it is only me on it and not loaded. Their was one 103 with us single rider and he had 121 so I am down 14 mph

MPG on the flat roads and no head wind is 36-37, if I have a head wind and running 70-75 it will drop to 29-30 mpg.

All trikes will fight the wind with the body and two fenders!

I am really way, way outside my knowledge "envelope" with this question, but as I understand the build, the final belt drive is affixed to a solid axle that drives the left wheel, so except for the axle length that is the same as a 2 wheel bike.  The right wheel is driven through a small differential so the junction of the two axles would, seem, to introduce more friction as well as less rigidity than the original.  I'm not sure of the engineering consequences of this or the impact of more mass in the axle.  If inquiring minds want to know, I am out of the picture!  As any of my riding friends will tell you, I am the epitome of a Conservative driver who would never think of engaging in illegal or impulsive riding, however this morning a very good friend with a 06 SEUC tried to pass me on a deserted country rode when we were both traveling at about 15 mph at the start, and he could not get close till we both backed off about 65 mph.  I don't claim this was any kind of valid test, but it sure was fun!!  If asked, I will deny the incident.

The Trike was built at H-D Sales in Napoleon, OH.  The guy who did most of the build is Marv Yagel.  He was/is in the ownership chain, and I think it is now his son who is the owner.  Marv lost a leg sometime ago, and started building his own Trikes, and eventually became a Lehman dealer.  He is one talented guy.  If you want to read his story go to H-D Sales web site and they have an article about him.  This picture is when the conversion was pretty well along – and that’s Marv in the picture.

I have family in and around Napolean and have met Marv many times. A great man that is more than happy to talk about the good ole days with anyone that walks into his dealership.
He is a very talented man for being handicapped and much respected in the tri-state area of Mi,Oh, Ind.
Great looking machine by the way.
Ok Dood you can start the "CVO Trike" topic now for Walt  ;D

It took all of about 5 minutes to get to know Marv, and not much longer to appreciate just how much he knew about Trike building and customer relationships.  When the build was done, I asked Marv to show me how he made the delicate adjustments to get the Trike to "track" straight.  He explained about micrometers, laser adjusting sights, meticulous measurements and the final tweak.  Here is how he does it.
