Looking for a 2008 CVO Ultra Classic?
« on: September 05, 2007, 05:50:01 PM »

Had to go to LAX today so I stopped in Bartel's HD in the Marina Del Rey (Los Angeles).  They had a Copper Canyon/Silver available right on the floor.  Price?

$40,500 before fees - or roughly $5,000 over MSRP.  Another excellent value from this dealership.  Walked around their showroom for about 20 minutes, no one else there.  Two salesman chatting in the back and never acknowledged my existence.  They must have been mind readers as they somehow knew I'd never pay $5,000 over MSRP.  They even took off the stock chrome cover on the right side of the engine and replaced it with an engraved cover that had "Bartel's" etched on it.   ::)

I bought mine a ProTeam HD in Lawton, Okla.  Paid MSRP + what ever their fees are ($900).  Anyway I rode off for just under $35900.

I was in Joplin, Mo a couple of weeks ago and they had a copper canyon/silver mist on the floor and said that they would sell at approx. the same price.

Sad thing is that they will probably get the asking price in your area.  They just won't get it from any of us.   :2vrolijk_21:

I was in Santa Cruz yesterday......they have theirs marked "$4,000 Premium" right on the tag.

I was in Oakland this morning with hd-dude......they have theirs marked "$5,000 Premium" for a total of $42K and some change.  I don't blame them, if they can get it.  What I find incredable is that there are that many people out there that's willing to pay it........when just a little internet research will find them the exact same thing for MSRP and maybe a $500 set up charge.

I think the Santa Cruz bike is the Silver/White one.  If that's the same bike, they've had it for about a week or so.  And I did confirm Sweetwater - it's at MSRP and a $950 set up and freight.  The bike is still available if you're after that particular color.

There are two White/Silver CVO Ultras here in Columbus and they're going for $2500 over MSRP.

I think if anyone would read the problems with the '07 and '08 engines, they would either buy an older bike, or switch to a Gold Wing.  Most people on this web site are searching for the kind of quality that the MoCo evidently isn't interested in.  -But they make nice butt jewelry.  I feel sorry for those who don't have but one bike to ride because from what I'm seeing the new bikes will be spending most of their lives getting fixed.   :nervous:  -Retail- PLUS!!

Like I said in another thread, the 'wings are nice, but we enjoy all the Harley "stuff" and all the people who also enjoy it.  I can't stand the fact that we have to put so much into the bikes to get them "right" - it's downright stupid, but I just can't bring myself to the alternative touring bikes that are out there, i.e. BMW 1200LT, 'Wing, Victory Vision, etc.  Just don't think they would be as much fun over time as with the Harley.

Deucedog, you started this thread.  We know that you are not looking for the white/silver 08 CUSE3, so which of the other two colors are you interested in?  Living in the state of California you would be limited to a bike made for that state or can you register a Harley made for the other 49 states there?  Good luck with those mark ups.

Deucedog, I second that statement.  I have ridden my buddies Goldwings (1500's & 1800's) and BMW 1200LT.  They just don't give me the thrill as the bike with some much American heritage.  You know, the motorcycle you wanted since boyhood (a Harley) or the car you wanted boyhood (a Corvette)(especially us Baby Boomer's).  Like baseball and apple pies, it the American way.  :2vrolijk_21:

So true.  We are getting the Anniversary scheme, our second choice was the Silver and White.  We just sold our Smokey Gold/Black Ultra to buy our first CVO bike.  We like the Anniversary color combo, it looks like our old bike colors in hi-def!  :bananarock:
