Foot board viberations.....
« on: September 05, 2007, 08:35:43 PM »

Just wondering if anybody else is having problems with viberations in there foot boards? I have a 07 serk and the foot boards are driving me crazy at speeds around 65 to 75. I have a 03 RK that I have put over 20k on and never had any problems with viberations in the foot boards. I am wondering if it is because of the 110 and it is some thing I am going to have to deal with. Or do I have a problem with the bike. Please let me know if you have any help with this...Thanks!

Serene foot comfort on my '07 at all speeds.  And I also have a Fat Boy so know what foot board vibrations at highway speed feel like!  Motor mount?  I hear it is uncommon but happens this early.

Howdy JR,

My 08 SERK is smooth as baby's bottom but she's still a baby at 1000 miles.  Had 07 110 ci in SG with no problems.

Did you experience this from the start or a new problem?
Made any changes lately - exhaust, cams, etc?
Is the vibration in a certain rpm range?
At that speed are you in 6th or 5th or does it not matter?
Is there vibration anywhere else you are experiencing? seat? handlebars?

Wishing go luck with finding the prob and it being minor.

JW

Might try grabbing the clutch and let the engine drop back to idle rpm while experiencing the viberation.  This might let you know if the viberation is from the engine or elsewhere  :nixweiss:

had the exact same thing happen to a friends bike and after a lot of searching found that the engine/trans was touching the frame on the right rear side...after adjusting the engine all vibration was gone

Have you put brackets with foot pegs on you're engine guard? They created a vibration on my SERK.

I get vibes in the footboards every so often.....   It comes from where the heat shield slides down and hits the brake pedal of the left, and shakes and rattles there.   Sound like what you have?

Also, check your muffler clamps.  Believe it or not...the muffler clamps come loose quite often.  That vibration from the muffler translates right into your floorboards.
Good Luck and let us know what you find out.

I am experiencing the same on my '07 SE Road King with only 600 miles on it. My vibration is prevalent especially on the right side, but mine occurs when the bike idles down at a stop...even in neutral. I also suspected a motor mount but planned to have it looked at upon 1,000 mile service.

Did you come up with anything on yours?

That's exactly how my problem showed up.  It turned out to be the heat shield migrating down onto the brake pedal.  It would only hit at an idle.  (Loose muffler clamps...)    I however, was slow witted enough to actually change out the motor mount before I figured out what the real problem was....

Ironically, I just got off the phone with my dealership who also indicated that there could well be a loose exhaust bracket hitting the brake lever, or a motor mount. I'll give 'er a look. Thanks,

Well, I had the bike if for the 1k service and they checked the wheel balance and could not find any thing wrong with the bike. But the guy at the dealer ship did say he did feel the vibration in the bike a little on the right foot board. The funny thing is that when you pull in the clutch at about 65-70, you can feel the vibration go away. I wonder if it is just the 110 motor?
