Leather Document Holder
« on: September 10, 2007, 10:49:36 PM »

Did you get one with your 07 SEUltra?  I did.  Where does it mount?  Or does it?  It was just loose in the TourPac.  On my 03' nonSE Ultra it was attached to the back of the TourPac.  The regular Touring Model 07 Parts book lists it and shows how it is attached to the TourPac.  The 07 Supplement Parts Book for the SE does Not show it, nor any attachment device.  HOWEVER, I notice the space in the top of the TourPac lid is exactly the right size and shape for the Doc Holder.  Is it supposed to go in that hollow spot?  Velcro?  MIG Welder?  I am loosing vast amounts of sleep over this incredibly important topic.  Please rush your reply.

My 06 has one and I velcrowed it to the left inside tour pack - (slots up) makes it easy to hold registraition and owners manual without sliding around loose in the tour pak.

I mounted mine inside the tourpack on the left side if your standing behind the bike. Seems like I used two small stainless screws/nuts. Comes in real handy to store anything you don't want bouncing around.

I thought the same thing.  I noticed mine fits exactly perfect in the rear of the TP.  I even have a small plastic bag with a tiny allan wrench.  Is that to attach the pouch somewhere?

Ya.  Its the leather(??) gizmo with the clamshell type expansion opening that is big enough for the Owners Manual and other Registration, Insurance, etc. Stuff.

The pouch came with both my 05 SEEG and 06 SEUC.....both loose in the tour paks.  Great idea about velcroing it to the side. :2vrolijk_21:

The allen wrench is to remove your antennas.

For my SERK, I bought the V-Rod Document Holder (94206-03), which is a plastic pouch that is secured with Velcro and attached it to the lid of my leather bags.

I also velcro'd mine to the back slot in the TP, fit perfect. But now I want to know what the heck the dealership did with the small allen wrench for the antennas........I didn't check the tool kit, maybe it's in there (not that I would take them off, the tips already have marks on them from the garage door, lol) :D

The pouch has been included with all the T-P equipped SE's, even though it was only designed to fit the full size hard King T-P (attaches with two screws & nuts at the back of the T-P, which are hidden by the light bar).  Unfortunately, the pouch is too tall to fit the chopped T-P in the same way.  I solved that by attaching it to the lid with double sided 3-M molding tape and adding a little strap to hold it closed.  It's been hanging in there for 2+ years so far with no problem.

The leather T-P, while big enough for the pouch to fit standing up, doesn't allow for mounting with screws and nuts unless you don't mind two screw heads showing on the outside.  The velcro idea sounds good, however, and has the added advantage of easy installation and removal.

BTW - I believe you will find that the pouch is made from the skin of that rare beast called a "vinyl", which is closely related to another animal called a "nauga".  If you would like another one, H-D will sell it to you for approximately $23.50, part number 53165-89A.
