Strong Fuel Smell
« on: September 13, 2007, 12:09:34 AM »

Just turned 10K (600 miles) on 07 Serk. Last two short rides I have noticed a very strong fuel oder, even when riding slowly. Can't find any observable fuel leaks and the fuel tank was almost on resrve. Refueled and had a fast idle and still had the fuel smell that was very strong. Fuel mileage was terrible since last fill, about 120 miles from full to fuel warning lite, which has been reasonably accurate in the past. Also front cylinder seems to be noisier?? Am I getting 110 shy, or should I be seeing the dealer?? :nixweiss:

Look for a post from Dynosaur (sp?).  He had the same thing on his SE Dyna.  Dealer told him it was normal.  Next day it locked up and he went down and broke some bones in his hand and totalled the bike.  I believe he was at 800+ miles.  Apparnetly there was no oil return in the rear head and the rear jug melted down.  He did get a new bike.... quick.
Be careful.

The member that had those problems was "Dynasoar" and here is the thread concerning the fuel smell - HELP! 110" with fuel smell in the oil, and this is the one concerning the motor seizing - 110" fried at 812 miles, bike trashed.
