2008 Screamin Eagle Road King
« on: September 13, 2007, 11:57:32 AM »

Greetings to All of my CVO Family and Friends.

If you know me at all, you'd be aware I am a SE FatBoy fan, and you can check out my ride on the CVO Screamin Eagle FatBoy forum.

The reason I am posting today is to announce I have purchased a 2008 SE Road King. Delivery date is about two months for the black and silver dust model.

My questions: Any successful TD performance exhaust for the 08? Any problems with installing a SERT and dialing this beast in? Last question: If ya all had the chance to have a dealer install options (like the ones you don't want to do) which options would you have installed?

I have the dealer installing: Heavy Breather intake, Flush mount gas cap and gauge, TD Headers (if they will), a SERT, Rocker Box Chrome Bolts, and some cosmetic stuff that I don't want my hands on.

Suggestions?

Pretty much adding what your are putting on your bike with the exception of VnH Ovals and aux lighting kit.

My SERK was supposed to have come in last week, but I am still waiting. I thought that it may be this week but it appears I may have to wait another week.

I don't understand why they did not include the flush mount fuel cap and guage as they were included in last year's model. I guess its more money for the MOCO cause bike does not look right without the flush mounts.

Will post picks when it arrives.

Add Exended Warranty and read the Twin Cam section to view the crystal ball regarding future 110 issues you will most likely have.
Been there, done that, waiting for shipment of the new motor.

Welcome.

Good choice. I've got some minor problems (speedometer lcd, some scratches at delivery to be addressed by the dealer) but so far it makes my '06 Fatboy seem technologically challenged.

Novazeus,

Yeah, good choice to you too. In what way does the 06 FatBoy seem tech challenged? Is it a CVO FatBoy? Any Pictures?

The picture of the 08 SERK is great. Have you done any mods to it yet?

Well the SERK has hydraulic clutch, ids, throttle by wire, shifts smoother. cruise control, goes fast effortlessly, abs with an extra disc up front, tach, adjustable air shocks and it just doesn't care how crappy the pavement is or how fast you are going, it just seems to say "is that all you want" where the FB is like Scotty "I'm giving you all I've got".

It made a major improvement when I went to the big bore kit 95" and the 2-1 V&H Propipe with the FuelPak but the stroked motor and 6 speed of the SERK is just smoother.

Hey Novazeus,

I think we would have fun in each others garage! Our rides will be almost the same, and for sure, you must have great taste in other things, yes? I get the guys who have known me for years just wanting to use my work area in the garage cause it's so clean and functional. But I won't let them till they get a few thousand miles under their arse and appreciate a CLEAN and well driven Harley Davidson or two. I'm looking at my two rides and we must have more to talk about.

Nice rides.

My garage is the cleanest room in my house but that doesn't say much about my housekeeping.

I don't think you'll want to give up your SEFB but you will definitely enjoy the different ride of your SERK. Two different bikes for two different kind of rides. My SERK is made for the Interstate and the FB is great for short hops for fast food etc.

Hey Novazeus,

My God Holmes, did I lead you to think I would give up my SE FatBoy? Oh, Hell no... That's my ride, my rocket, my God, it's the source of my OCD and the SEFB is the reason our national budget hasn't quite balanced yet: I'm still doin' the taxes on the chrome purchases.

Naw, no way would I give her up after the long drawn out upgrade effort. And to think, 2 years in the making, I just recently found a real time, quality tuner. Oh, hell no...\

The cleanest room in my house is my office; then the garage, the kitchen, the playroom/home theater, then the bedroom theater, then.... Cleanliness is next to you know who-li-ness.

The SERK is just what you said: an interstate ready ride. My 08 SERK will most definitely see some miles before the year is out.

We'll talk again.

Just thought that I would give you an update.

The 08 SERT finally came in, I dropped my bike off yesterday to get it installed as well as the VnH dressers and ovals.

Love the bike even more now!!! It sounds like a harley and rides much better than before. My buddy has the same set up on his regular RK, but mine is louder; must be the bigger displacement.

I complained to the dealer to check out some engine clatter that I was having, I know that there is some to be expected but it seemed louder than normal. But this seemed to have disappeared after the mods were made.

I'll try to get some pics posted over the next couple of days.

Thanks. Would be great. Thinking about ordering one. Would love to see how it looks in this year's color scheme.
