CVO Storage cover for '08 SE Ultra
« on: September 21, 2007, 01:48:17 PM »

Anyone had a problem getting their cover to fit over the touring pak of '08 SE Ultra.

The opening for the antennas on mine is about 6" to short of being wide enough. Dealer looked at it and agreed, something is wrong, but when they contacted the Mo-Co, they claimed it was a tight fit but it would work. By the way they also said it was the same cover for all CVO Ultra Classics.

I know it's only a cover, but somewhere in the $34 grand I paid for the bleeping cover and I want them to make it right.

I have read in a few threads already that the cover does not fit properly.  The fact is, and I am clueless as to why MoCo doesn't acknowledge it, that the tour boxes are different from 07 to 08.  That is likely where the fit issue is.  They need to address it and fix it and not try to slime the old cover in on 08 owners.

Just keep stretching the cover until it rips.  Then it will be YOUR fault and the MoCo won't have to stand behind the problem!    :pepper:

I took a razor and made the opening bigger, don't try to squeeze the antennas in 'cause it will probably bend the spring too far and make it difficult to straighten it out. I know from experience

I never unbpacked my CVO cover I prefer to use a cover from these folks http://www.tourkingcovers.com/shop/

I prefer to keep the orginal cover as something to pass on to the next owner (like the useless Key in the box) to make it more special for them as a reselling point :)

Glad I saw this, my cover wouldn't fit either. I had thought to myself how damn stupid must I be if I can't make this cover fit!

Glad it's not me !!!

I like the way that they inserted that material made out of panty material on top of the tourpak. Did that engineer ever think about the leather getting wet ???? Water just soaks right thru it. The 08 looks like the same cover, sorry guys, leave it in the bag......

Hey MadTrucker, in the meantime, if you don't use the CB why don't you take the antenna off and cap it?  However, by your handle you may use it more than all of us together. JMHO

Bonehead,
The cover that comes with the CVO was never meant to be used in the rain.  It's a non-treated heavy-duty cotton cover.  It's mean purely to be a dust cover or you might get away using it outdoors on a really nice day.  It's basically an indoor cover.  I use it when the bikes laid up for long period of time, or just to keep the dust off the bike after I've cleaned it up good.   I have the HD nylon outdoor cover for when I drive the bike to work and park it outdoors.

Mine was about 2" too short. I took it to a seamstress to widen the antenna area. I still wish the cover would cover the whole bike (like touch the ground maybe).

Talked to the MoCo customer service yesterday. They have finally agreed the cover does not fit correctly on the '08 Ultra and are having a new one made. "Should be available though your dealer late January, early February" :2vrolijk_21:

Should we expect that they will provide the proper fitting cover to us for free?  Or are they going to expect us to pay for something that was not right when they shipped it to us?

I got curious, so I went and unpacked my cover.   Words can not describe this thing... I'll let the pics do that!  (Maybe I'm doing something wrong?)

No, looks OK in the back (except it's short and doesn't cover the pipes)
