What to do? Buy available SEUC today or wait?
« on: September 21, 2007, 04:50:01 PM »

I just checked again on my ordered CVO Ultra Anniversary and the dealer is now telling me that the computer says "bike is in production" but still shows 9/11/07 ship date - no VIN.

Meanwhile, "back at the ranch", a CVO Ultra in Frost/White is available right now at MSRP plus a reasonable freight and s/u charge.  This color was our second choice.

Questions:

1. Be patient and wait until the Anniversary comes in a few weeks or so and pray the delay was because Moco made changes by addressing the problems?

-or-

2. Go for the Frost/Silver and not worry about the issues many owners are having right now?

This is our first CVO and it's a lot of money...

CVO experts?  What do think?   :nixweiss:

Thanks...

Most of time your first decision is the best. Why not wait a few extra days for the one you ordered??

Patience has always been a weakness, especially on this purchase.  I'm pretty excited about the CVO Ultra.  But, we're not getting any younger.  I am leaning toward waiting as you suggest.  The wife thinks waiting is the right thing to do as well.  Her feeling is that why settle and not get the first color choice, regardless if they fix anything or not.

I was in a similar situation waiting on the arrival of my bike (9 month wait). In one of the many conversations I had w/the dealer I was offered a B/B SEEG if one were to become available before my pumpkin arrived. Thankfully one never became available for me to have to decide to take it or not, but in the end I'm glad I waited for my first choice. If the anniversary color combo is your first choice I would wait on it otherwise you might be second guessing yourself. :nixweiss:

I would make up my mind before going to see that Frost/Silver it will be awful hard to walk away from. :nervous:

Unfortunately, depending on how you look at it, the dealer is about 400 miles from me, so I won't be tempted to "visit" this Frost/White bike.  But you are right, no way I'd make it out of there without the bike.  At least I am willing to admit I got a problem.  :D

If that is a problem the majority of us have it. You're in good company. :2vrolijk_21: ;D

Deuce,

Wait on your color.  You are spending a lot of $$$, so wait on the color you want.

Same situation happened to me. At about month 5 of a 7 month wait, a friend of a friend knew a dealer that had a bike the same color as mine sitting on the dock with no deposit. I called and confirmed. Then I called my dealer and said why are dealers all ove the country getting the black bikes and you can't.  At the time, I didn't realize what prisoners the dealers are of the MOCO when it comes to delivery of new products, but when they couldn't give me any definative info, I decided to call the other dealer and make a deal.  It was several hours away, but I wanted a bike. Those of you that have waited know the feeling. Well when I called the other dealer back, their price seemed to go up 1K. I said screw it and stayed put. It all worked out and in the end and Im glad I got one locally. But, If there is a new CVO bike in my future, instead of ordering one, I may just ask around, and go get the first one I find at the right price. Much less frustration.

It really is quite a bit of dough for a scooter.  In most places around the country, if you're lucky enough to pay MSRP you are still just shy of $40K for it after all the "fees" are added on.  I can't think of any other production bike that cost as much as these.  But that's another topic for another day.

In the meantime, I'll hang in there.  It's raining in Socal today anyway... ::)

How bad do you want it? BUY IT if you want it or wait! It's only a choice you can make and live with.

2K9, I had the opportunity to buy a red SEUC² for list. I passed, waited 2 months, and paid 1200 over to get the Black/Orange. That was the color I wanted. Yes, it was hard but 9 months later I'm glad I waited (sorry Chuck).

Wait.  If you don't, the first time you see one of the anniversary bikes rolling down the highway you'll be kicking yourself in the azz.  Be patient and wait for the bike that is already in the schedule for The Motor Company to build specifically for YOU! :2vrolijk_21:
