Looks good Scott. :2vrolijk_21:

Me and the pup have something in common.... Neither one of us can get through the x-ray machines in airports. ;D Sounds like he'll be able to get rid of his when he heals though. :2vrolijk_21:

Actually, he gets to keep all his hardware...there is a titanium cable that replaced the hip version of an ACL ligament - some webbing that replace some of the hip socket soft tissue that grows into the bone, and a couple of pins, that will remain in place.  He had it pretty rough for a couple of months - but is fully recovered now.  No more trips to therapy, so neither of us get see the pretty UW student therapist anymore...   :-*

Finished a few odd and ends up today...

First - I installed my new D & D exhaust...

Scott, when weather clears and you get a chance to run them on the road keep an eye on your muffler/pipe connection.  In the first 100 miles or so my muffler had walked back .375".

Loosened the clamps.  Gave it the easiest of shoves and it slid right back forward.  Clamped her down but haven't had the chance to ride it again since.  It seemed tight the first time.

Their chrome may just be so milky smooth that there isn't enough friction to hold it together :huepfenlol2: !

Just to be safe keep an eye on it.  Probably just a one-off glitch on mine the first time.  But a guy can't be too careful with big shiny expensive parts potentially coming loose.

that is not uncommon. go to the rear hanger (under the saddlebag) , and look where the flat bar goes through the rubber. make a mark in front of the rubber. remove bar, drill small hole at your mark. reinstall bar and put small screw through drilled hole, use nylock nut on screw. this "pins" the muffler from moving back.

For what it's worth, I always seal this joint with High Temp Silicone as well as with the provided clamp.  This joint is always the most likely to leak on any brand pipes, and using the silicone generally prevents it.  It also helps keep the joint together.  I can't tell you how many times I have had a friend complaining about "popping" out their exhaust during deacceleration, and when checking this joint, finding an air leak.  Upon sealing the leak, the popping would stop.  But thanks for the heads up...I'll keep an eye on it.

Did you check your O2 sensor ports for air leaks.  I found my rear port leaking, even after installing the plug with Loctite.  I pulled the plug last evening and added high temp silicone to it.  I hope this stops the air leak, but I am afraid it could be the weld leaking.  I'll check it again tonight after the silicone on the plug sets up.

I watched those bungs and plugs at first fire-up and thereafter during the several heat cycles it was given.  To eye, ear and misted spray all clear on this set.

I give myself the potential for more work on muffler to pipe clamps.  Always start them clamped.  Then if see/hear a problem a later deal with it then.  Too damn dumb to nip it in the bud I guess.

Well,  I have finally had the time and the weather has finally cooperated enough that I've been out three times now since the motor build.  I've put a couple hundred trouble free miles on her so far.  I am still in break in mode, so I haven't opened her up yet, but it is running smooth, accelerates very nice, no popping at all under decel.  Plugs look a bit rich, but that is fine for now. (thanks again for the map, Howie)  I love the sound of the D&D pipes!  Oil pressure is parked at about 45 psi with the Feuling performance oil pump.  I haven't seen more than about 200 F oil temperature, but it is still pretty cool out...

First impressions of the Traxxion and IDS are great.  I can't wait to get passed the break in mode to really give them a test.  I am not getting a harsh ride out of the Sta Bo bushings, but I haven't have an opportunity to find out if they help in the handling department or not yet...

All in all, so far so good.  It is still hit and miss with the weather, so it will be slow going for another week or two, but it was great to get started...   ;)

Does the sealer on the header to muffler connection make muffler removal difficult?  I know the mufflers can loosen, but after having a friend experience a flat tire, we were glad the connection was easily opened.  The idea of a pin to keep the muffler from sliding sounds interesting.
