Except the HG's, no? Aren't you using Cometic .030's in there?

Hoist! 8)

I didn't pull the heads...  But if I had, I would be putting it back together with Cometic!   :2vrolijk_21:

So you've got the "new" gaskets to use?  If you really preferred the .030 Cometics is now really the time let eight more bolts keep you installing them?

If I remember correctly you had the same rocker boxes as Howie and I do.  If that's correct did you see any problem reusing the o-rings for sealing or did you have new in hand already?

You lost me Twolane!  When I built the motor a year ago, I used .030 Cometic gaskets.  I didn't pull the heads for this weekends inspection...so they are still intact!   But I do have the "new" product enhancement head gaskets - on a shelf along with the "product enhancement" heads.

I am using the TP rocker boxes - and see no problem reusing the o'rings to reassemble the top cover.  The top cover is all I had to remove from the rocker box assembly to access the rocker arms  - to pull the rocker arms for inspection...

I must have got lost following Howie (like that would ever really happen).  Actually just looked back and saw that, once again, scanning rather than reading bit me in arse.  Thought you'd said you'd not used the Cometics during the build.  I is stoopid.  Where's my sign :nixweiss: ?

I've had the lids off my TP boxes once also.  That was actually your fault too come to think of it.  Got paranoid one night about rocker arm clearance so at 0300 just had to take the tops off one night.  Nice fresh soft o-rings :2vrolijk_21: .

I pulled the top end apart yesterday - on the one year anniversary of building my motor.  I inspected the rocker arms, pushrods, lifters, cams, oil pump and checked crank runout again.

Everything looks virtually like new - like the day it was built.  There were very slight wear marks in the oil pump - nothing more then I would expect to see.  The crank runout was .0018 - the same as when I put it together a year ago.  Lifters also show very light wear marks on the rollers - but again, nothing more then you would expect to see a year later...  Cams look good - similiar to the lifters - very light wear marks.

So - nothing out of the ordinary...  I'll put her back together today!

-7 degrees below zero with wind chill of -35 degrees below zero - but the shop is a toasty 65 degrees!  No better way to spend the day then tinkering in the shop!
Scott,
Glad to hear that everything was looking good when you opened her up. :bigok:

I need to check the shipping charges back/forth to IL for a KTP if you get this bored during the winter. ;) :D ;D :D ;D

sadunbar, glad to see your motor is holding up!...I believe wes's package is a good one for 110 baggers...and your findings reaffirm my belief that 110 is a good motor once the tree-hugger stuff is removed

Scott

Good news!
Like we really expected any different.
Using good parts upfront usually is a good path to success.

I know I've said this many times, but if only I (probably a lot of us that lack mechanical skills) were closer I'd love to watch/learn while you did. :2vrolijk_21:

Thanks Chip!  I wasn't suprised to see all in good shape - because I had zero symptoms of any issues - but I was happy to see it!

Great news Scott. I'm glad she's as good as the day you built her! Outstanding that the crank seems to be holding up perfectly. And with the post on lifters latey, it's good to hear yours look good!

We're having a heat wave south of you, only -2. And of course an Inch of ice on everything. I trade you for your snow.
