monster attacks ......mauls cvo
« on: September 22, 2007, 08:18:46 PM »

well it has happened, yesterday, I was doing some work in my shop, as usual at the end of the day I closed and locked everything up. today, as I went out to take a ride, I unlocked and opened the door...BANG.....CRASH..... CLANK!!!!! I looked and there he was, staring at me with beedy eyes, 3 inch claws, and a 5 inch beek!!!! I looked and there was a trail of chit from the top of my windshield down to the gas tank......3 inches wide!!!!! when I was a child my favorite cartoon was the roadrunner....... now, I know why the coyote was always tring to kill that mother f*&%$#%^.  yes, my bros a roadrunner. let me tell you, these are NOT harmless sweat birds. I cannot discuss here on a public forum, what became of this monster, but, I can tell you of the damage this f#&*^&^% did. the chit was easyly cleaned off. and was a good laugh. but, upon farther inspection, the real damage came to light........ front fender looks as though he used it as a skating rink. tank is the same. inner farring is toast. 1 saddle bag scratched to hell!!!!!
I am aware the clearcoat on these bikes is soft, does anyone know can it be buffed out???? I tell you this story in a humorus way, only becouse it keeps me from crying!!!!! I know some of the scratches are to deep to be buffed. but I would like some input on what products and equipment can be used to remove the minor ones.
thanks Randy

I would seriously think insurance claim, get a quote from a pro, your descrip seems like this is not a home brew fix Randy, sorry for your mishap with BEEP BEEP.

just spoke with the dealer, he said, to get a estimate from HD, the parts would have to be sent off, inspected then a estimate would be issued. looks like some serious down time. :(

Check w/your insurance company maybe you can get some estimates from some local painters/body shops. Maybe they can even suggest that due to the fact that it's a factory custom paint to get it to match w/the rest of the bike then parts should be replaced from the factory. :nixweiss: This way you could order the parts, and still be riding until they come in.

Yes, your insurance should cover it. I would file a claim on your bike and homeowners policies. Whether the damage was done by a roadrunner or vandals, it wouldn't matter.
I had no idea roadrunners liked watermelon, I hope they don't like bananas.

I was thinking in regards of a way to keep you riding while you are waiting on painted parts. :nixweiss: You may also want to see if someone can match the paint up an repair it. :nixweiss:
