Rego Plate relocate
« on: September 24, 2007, 12:29:00 AM »

It was Purple Haze who inspired me on this one! I thought I would try it out before I add the 200 rear end

Cheers

Aussie,

I like it.

I think it will look better on the new 200 rear end. I think the stock rear needs a "license plate hardware" change for sure, but I just can't seem to find one solution that looks right to me.

Your's, of course, will look good for a while, and it does (IMO); then it's just a memory cause on your bike, nothing stays forever.

That's the nicest thing anybody has ever said about Purple Haze.  Way to go Purple Haze!!

Jim,

Yes but I only have the 2 clear plate LED's being used. As the actual lens that came with it was red it did not look good with my smoked tail light lens.
So I made a lens replacement from a piece of 3mm aluminium & polished it up so it looks like chrome & this gives the impression that there is no tail light only the 2 clear plate lights. Only a small job this one. about 2 hours. I picked up the mount at bike week cheap only $150 AUD.

Cheers

Aussie,

Can you please tell me where you found the three hole cover your using as I mounting a side plate and don't like what I'm currently using to hide the holes from the old hardware.

Thanks,
  Billy

Billy,

What I have used is not a 3 hole cover as such. It is a genuine HD chrome medallion #91716-02 (about $10) I removed the double sided tape from it & then very carefully rolled it to the shape of the fender, fitted some new double sided tape & stuck it on. It only just covers the holes but it does cover.
I too could not find a 3 hole cover that I liked so I had to make a spare medallion I had fit. I am very happy with the results. It took me about an hour to get the perfect shape to match the fender.

Cheers

Thanks Auzzie,

I did something similar with a sissy bar medallion but the one that I pick was not so bendable. At first glance I thought you might had found a vendor who sells a cover.
