Grips, which ones?
« on: September 26, 2007, 10:10:40 PM »

I'm too biased here by simple familiarity.  Have used the ISOs for too many years on too many bikes.

Sometime in the next few days to a week the grips will be off the red bike.  I've got these SAC eagle grips here.  Minimal first impression is that they'd be comfortable.  They are a bit bigger diameter than the ISOs from Kuryakyn.  I've got fair sized hands so that's actually ok.  I just can't decide if the eagle grips will look right on the bike.

Here's a side by side.  Cast your vote.  I don't promise to abide by the results.  But will sure as hell be interested in opinions.

The annoying part is that I could care less if they weren't glue on grips.  Swap back and forth in 10 minutes.  Both are glue ons though.  So don't want to screw with breaking them loose and potentially tearing them up.

Neal, I got these grips as a gift quite some time ago.  Was totally unfamiliar with SAC's grips at the time so asked that question here.  There there three or four who'd used them who all said that color fade or bleed had never been an issue with theirs.  No one cited fade or bleed as a problem they'd had.  Based on that small cohort I'm willing to be optimistic they'd hold up from that perspective.

Don't get me wrong.  I've got no issue with the ISOs.  Have liked them for a long time.  Just fondling these new ones, however, gives the impression they would be very very comfortable.  There is a very real bias with familiarity though.  Moving from something known well is never a first choice.

May be slick in the rain and sure would fade fast but they are bad**s grips as far as looks go. Not too practical and too flashy for me though.
