New dealer tactic's
« on: September 29, 2007, 05:12:37 PM »

I received this email from my dealer today, they must think they are selling Gold.

Notice the word "unveiling"   ::)

Dear James

My name is Bill Ledig and I am the Internet sales manager for our three

locations, Tampa, Brandon and Gulf Coast Harley-Davidson.

You are a valued customer with our dealerships and part of our family

so I would like to take this opportunity to inform you of a new arrival

here at the Tampa location, the new 2008 FLHTCUSE3 in the

two tone color of white frost and silver mist featuring the 110 CI engine

with ABS Brembo brakes and much more.

We are having the unveiling of this new bike Wednesday Oct. 3 2008

The affair starts at 5 PM with refreshments served.

Please RSVP with our receptionist at 813-886-7433

Bring a guest if you like

We look forward to seeing you Wednesday

Okay, so they're a bit proud of their CVO arrival.  Look at it this way, at least you can stop in and get some free refreshments.  ;D

On a side note - I have purchased my 2 current bikes from the Tampa/Brandon location. They are one of the FEW dealers that will sell the SECUSE at MSRP and the dealer fee INCLUDES the 1000 mile service. I would assume they will indeed "unveil" the bike on the date and at the time they suggest. Good folks. ;)

I'd say the butcher is a bit greedy more than a bit proud. Enjoy your snacks.

When I was looking for my 04 SEEG this was one of the dealers that I was at. Starting bid............................ are you sitting down :nixweiss:   $11k over msrp. That would of come out at $43,000.00 out the door. And no refreshments except poppcorn & soda.

Sounds like a good business practice to generate sales leads. Which is what they are in business for aren't they?

No, it was a quote and a ticket for me to walk out their door and never return.  ;)

Thats exactly what I was thinking. It didn't cost them a dime to contact no telling how many people, they are just trying to get them (us) into the show room. You have get them (again, us) in to sell them something, for the most part.  We buy parts and accessories over the internet and ocassionally someone will buy a bike (or any other vehicle) without laying eyes on it,  but usually we want to look at it and check it out in person. Thats when they (I) have the best chance of selling you a bike (or new Dodge truck). Just my 2 cents worth.

Yeah, here in Orlando they send emails with the same nonsense the latest says they need 200 used bikes for Biketoberfest! so we can get a great trade in value, ( how much of a refund do you get on trade in for that dealer fee!) they take you to Sea World, give away free riding gloves, feed ya and have free beer! They just don't get it! They even have a full time dedicated event coordinator! How about some good ole fashion customer service and straight forward dealings. These dealer's are nothing more than glorified car dealers! Just check out who the principals are. ( CAR DEALERS )Guess who pays for the gimmiks? I dont need no fancy showroom and a circus atmosphere, just a clean well run dealership with knowledgable folks and a fair inventory of stuff.
