Softail Gas Cap Gauge Lamp
« on: October 02, 2007, 05:59:53 PM »

I wonder if anyone had ever tried to replace the lamp in the gas gauge on a softail? On my SED, all of the other lamps are red, and I've been toying with the idea of trying to swap the current gas gauge light bulb to red as well, so it matches. Has anyone tackled this before?

What is the color that it came with?  Mine matched already.

My gas guage back lamp is clear or white. However, my speedo and the tach are red. Little chit like this drives me nuts. So, the hope is I'll be able to disassemble it to add a red tint somehow.

Arts & Crafts stores have paint for glass which will do what you want nicely.

Over the years I've tried a numbr of different things (bulb condoms, film, etc) depending on whether it's a bulb or SMLED, etc. This is going to be a winter project, so until I take the booger apart, I really don't know what I'm up against. Honestly, I'm not even sure it's servicable as the parts blow up doesn't show a breakdown.

So Sweet, was yours white or red?
