Atlanta 2-Day Breast Cancer Walk Pics
« on: October 03, 2007, 03:59:54 PM »

Well, this past weekend was the Atlanta 2-Day Breast Cancer Walk. 1,300 walkers raised approximately $1.5 million.

Here are some pics of the walk. They're all copyrighted, so I can't post them here, but instead included links.

Getting ready to walk
Walk Founder and Stage 4 Breast Cancer Survivor, Randi Passoff
Chief in Action
Chief Mug Shot
THE Helmet (Very popular with the ladies)
Jester-Riding Boob
Other Village Peep
Chief and Pinkie at Closing Ceremonies

Pinkie and I have one free weekend and then it'll be time for the Atlanta 3-Day with over 2,500 walkers raising over $5,000,000.

If you'll be in Atlanta next weekend (10/12-14) come find me. It won't be too hard.

Hey looks like a great time for a great cause! I'd like to assist next year if possible, I'm in Covington just east of the ATL.  I would be there on the 12th, but I'm getting married in Vegas.

Mike D,

We can use you next year. The dates for next year's walk are September 20 & 21. Pinkie and I have already signed up.

I'm just now going through the 2700+ pics of the event.

Lunch (Anyone recognize the house in the background?)
Oh, To Be So Young...
The 1st Lady of Georgia with Randi
Pinkie and Friends Listening to Mrs. Perdue
Lisa, Karen and Pinkie Walking on Saturday
Pinkie and Randi
Karen and Pinkie Finish 30 Miles!
All Survivors Were Given Pink Carnations and a Hug from Randi (Warning: Teary Moment)
What's It's all About, Giving Away Money
More...

If you want to see more pics, go here: Main Picture Page

Well, that's the end of my self-indulgent post of the walk. It was a great event that raised a lot of money for breast cancer research and outreach in Atlanta. This charity returns over 70% of everything raised. That means, over 1 million dollars this year, and that ain't too shabby.

If you're interested in walking, volunteering or crewing for 2008, keep an eye on the website www.2daywalk.org. The 2008 registration form should be up soon. I'd love to see you on the walk, or crew, next year.

Warren,

Thanks. Yes, Pinkie did great, only one big blister. This was her big training walk working up to the 3-Day next weekend.

As it turned out, there were two other guys that showed up with the same helmet. They just picked them up in Cherokee a couple of weeks ago. I was still the only one wearing featers tho.

Thanks again for your donation.

How was Thunder Beach?

Chief-
Count me in, how do I sign up?  I also organize a memorial ride in memory of my 1st wife to benefit the fight against breast cancer.  It already happened this year, 2nd one.  A great ride through Conyers, Covington, Monticello, Social Circle, and Newborn.  About 90 miles total and we ended it this year at Granite Mtn HD with food, beer of course and monster truck rides.

Let me know what I need to do to volunteer me and my  :bananarock:!!!

Mike,

Keep an eye on the website: www.2daywalk.org They should put up the registration info soon. Make sure you sign up as crew and not a walker.
