Adding Ape Hangers to 08 FLHRSE4
« on: October 04, 2007, 02:28:41 PM »

I recently purchased my 08 FLHRSE4 and I love it. I've been riding for a long time and I prefer ape hangers for my comfort. Does anyone have any information about extending the electronic throttle. I would appreciate any information that may help me install ape hangers on my bike.

Have not seen or heard of any new bars being offered for the 08 drive by wire system as yet.

Wires are not your real issue. The ABS is, need to lengthen both brake lines and I think they are crimped onto the steel lines coming from the ABS pump.

While lengthening wires may be simple, here's something that happens all too often and is a real ass buster. When removing the pin connectors from the wiring blocks, you push the pins out with a tool. The problem is most people also tend to tug on the wire a bit which loosens up the connection between the wire and the pin. The wires get lengthened and everything goes back together and somewhere down the road you've got an electrical gremlin you can't find. 5'll get you 10 it's in those pesky pins. Soooooo moral of the story is to check your crimps on your pins when you put everything back together.
