Well I made it down to the strip last night after a 20 mile back up stop and crawl.
The tech inspectors said I couldn't race because I had no tethered kill switch. Thanks to this forum I was able to run my bike. I remembered reading a post of a good 'Ole redneck who said tie a string around the spark plug wires and the other end around your wrist. I did and went back to the tech inspection. The guy just scratched his head and said he never saw a kill switch like that before. I said "well if I fall off the bike the pulgs come out and the bike shuts off. He said what if you fall off backwards, the plugs ain't going to pull out. I responded, " I always fall off over the handle bars." He scratched his head again and said "OK".
1st Run the bike was not warmed up real good. I came off the line like I was leaving the Wallmart parking lot.
Came out of the hole around 1800 and real thumpy. Shifted at 6000 RPM's thru 1,2,3, finished in 4th
60' = 2.059
1/8 = 8.188
1/8 MPH = 87.21
1/4 = 12.800
1/4 MPH =104.69
2nd Run bike was warm, I came out around 2300 rpm slipping the clutch. Shifted @ 5500 into second then 6K into 3rd 6 k into 4th.
60' = 1.860
1/8 = 7.921
1/8 MPH =88.03
1/4 = 12.503
1/4 MPH = 105.52
I was the only Harley there. I had a lot of Folks come up to me and say it was nice to see a piece of American Iron run so good. There were about 40 Ricers there.
I am done with racing for a while. I just wanted to know what she would do with me driving. I didn't even change the pugs or check the Spark gap, didn't even check the tire pressure. Just drove it from work 60 miles to the track and ripped off a 12.5 1/4 without ever practicing a launch before. I have to say that I think with everything just right and a I don't give a SH*it launch the bike would go High 11's.
Thanks to all in the Forum for the tips and special thanks to the "watch this you'all" tip about the redneck kill switch.
