Well I made it down to the strip last night after a 20 mile back up  stop and crawl.
The tech inspectors said I couldn't race because I had no tethered kill switch. Thanks to this forum I was able to run my bike. I remembered reading a post of a good 'Ole redneck who said tie a string around the spark plug wires and the other end around your wrist. I did and went back to the tech inspection. The guy just scratched his head and said he never saw a kill switch like that before. I said "well if I fall off the bike the pulgs come out and the bike shuts off. He said what if you fall off backwards, the plugs ain't going to pull out. I responded, " I always fall off over the handle bars." He scratched his head again and said "OK".
1st Run the bike was not warmed up real good. I came off the line like I was leaving the Wallmart parking lot.
Came out of the hole around 1800 and real thumpy. Shifted at 6000 RPM's thru 1,2,3, finished in 4th

60' = 2.059
1/8 = 8.188
1/8 MPH = 87.21
1/4 = 12.800
1/4 MPH =104.69

2nd Run bike was warm, I came out around 2300 rpm slipping the clutch. Shifted  @ 5500 into second then 6K into 3rd 6 k into 4th.

60' = 1.860
1/8 = 7.921
1/8 MPH =88.03
1/4 = 12.503
1/4 MPH = 105.52

I was the only Harley there. I had a lot of Folks come up to me and say it was nice to see a piece of American Iron run so good. There were about 40 Ricers there.
I am done with racing for a while. I just wanted to know what she would do with me driving. I didn't even change the pugs or check the Spark gap, didn't even check the tire pressure. Just drove it from work 60 miles to the track and ripped off a 12.5 1/4 without ever practicing a launch before. I have to say that I think with everything just right and a I don't give a SH*it launch the bike would go High 11's.

Thanks to all in the Forum for the tips and special thanks to the "watch this you'all" tip about the redneck kill switch.

Thanks for the encouragement  rednectum.

 I remember seeing a Harley drag bike run at Piedmont dragstrip in NC about 6 years ago.  All the ricer bikes had their bikes revved to about 6 grand and dumped the clutch at the green light.  It sounded like a swarm of killer bees were all upset at the same time.
I watched spellbound as this Big HOG with wheelie bars came to do a burn out. I had been at the track all day watching cars with open headers wail and wail. But I never heard anything so impressive in my life.
All of a sudden this sound from hell came from the burn out area. I never in my life heard anything like it. It took over the track in one heart beat. Everything stopped. This gladiator on this monster did his burn out then sat at about 2000 RPMS at the Christmas tree.
I didn't know Harley's then and wondered when he was going to rev it to 6 grand and go.
He was all alone, they let no one else in the other lane.
The light turned green and he just nailed it from the line with not one piece of drama. The bike jumped out of the hole so fast with a roar that hurt my chest. I never saw anything leap down the track so fast with so little effort. The crowd cheered so hard for that USA bike that I got goos bumps down my spine.
I knew I would own a Harley one day after that.

Sounds like a fun night and that you were representing very well.
Glad you were able to get the dee-lux kill switch trough the inspection.

And as for the night 6 years ago, I could feel the thunder in your prose :2vrolijk_21:

That rednck would be me, and I'm, proud to be a yankee redneck at that!. Been doing that for years, and haven't been turned away once. It's all about enjoying yourself. It's tough getting this bike into the 11's without more work than you've done. 12,5's are nothing to be ashamed of. Great job man. I'm glad to see someone else enjoying their bike in this manner! :2vrolijk_21:
