Looks like a lot of damage to the car.  Hope the person is OK.

I like how the Washington Post reported that the motorcycle crashed into the left side of the van, I usually have some cager move over tot he left with out looking and try to run me off the road, but then. and what does not wearing a helmet have to do with any thing, does Iowa have a helmet law??

Almost every article published about bike accidents mention whether the rider was wearing a helmet, regardless of the state's helmet laws.  Same thing if the driver of a car was not wearing a seat belt (rarely happens now, but in years past it was reported regularly).

And concerning a motorcycle accident, they always say "alcohol was/was not involved". That's a major part of a motorcycle accident... A motorcycle hits a vehicle, but all of the damage is to the front of the vehicle? Yes indeed! But, there's a 'stigma' involved. Can I say 'stigma' any more?

would not suprise me if they say the motorcycle is a fault some way, not that the van pulled into the lane where the motorcycle was.

Here in Oregon it's the law to wear a helmet and I've never seen anyone not wearing one. However, in every accident involving a motorcycle, the news media always have to mention that the rider was wearing a helmet. This is regular protocol information for any motorcycle related accident. We all should be able to relate: When you take your bike into the local HD shop for a problem, we all know the standard protocol from the service department;"It's normal".:huepfenlol2:
