Hello all,

Been lurking a while and just sold my 07 ultra classic. It was my first bike in 15 years and I loved it, heat and all. No problems at all with the bike.

I am now thinking of ordering a 08 SE Ultra in Canyon Copper. My dealer has allocation for one and that slot is reserved for me.  So, should I go for it or not. I also am considering picking up a 2007 SE Dyna to play with but this forum has me a little scared with all the problems and such. I could use both bikes as my wife is learning to ride and taking the ABATE safety course this weekend. Should I take the plunge or wait for improvements?

The SE Dyna is available local and ready to go with no miles at the dealership for only 22k and its red.
The SE Ultra would be a factory order placed by the dealer in two weeks.

First of all welcome. I think its a no brainer - just go with 08 SE Ultra. Not only this bike will be a great value in the future (due to the fact that its limited edition) it is also a great bike in my view with Brembo ABS breaks and all the rest of great features.

I'm not even a bagger guy and agree with the above.  I don't think all of the 110 problems have surfaced, and they certainly haven't been corrected (mine is in again for continuing valve noise).

If you want a play bike, get the wife a used whatever she wants to eventually ride and trade it when she's proficient.  That way you won't freak if and when she drops the $22K SE.  Both of you will be less nervous when she rides.

+1....The 08 Ultra is awesome. Had ours a month and have about 2000 problem free miles on so far. And the CC color is unbelievable. We get many complements on the bike.

I love mine.  Decided not to wait for the anniversary colors and am very glad I did.  I love the Canyon Copper in the sun light.

4500 miles and the only problem I had was a sticking throttle at the grip not the throttle by wire stuff.  Fixed under warrenty at the 1000 mile service.  Mine also is not experiencing the heat problems that most of the 96 and 110s have.  Just lucky I guess.

Thanks. I was on the HDforums boards and the sig files are pretty wild over there. They even have a whole board on Photoshop tips and tricks and even have a few members that create the sig files for those members that can't do it. So I read and started playing around. It was a lot of fun.

Follow your heart.  Even though a few people have had some issues with their new bikes, there are many more that have had none.  If you do happen to get a bike with some type of issue, it may not be the same as others.  It will have to be fixed at the dealer.  Enjoy your purchase, there is no bike better on the market.  You will absolutely love it.  Re a SE for the wife, sounds like a great husband to me.

Its like news. You only hear the bad ones. I have 07 SE Ultra which had its own set of engine problems as reported in various forums. Mine is very good.

go for the 08 my friend has one and it's great.....but why did you have to sell the 07 ?

I agree with all of the above. Get the SEEG and you will be happy in the long run. Get you wife what ever she wantsa once she learns haw to ride well. I started my wife and daughters out on a Honda 600 Shadow.

My riding buddy Bob and I have logged over 22,000 problem free miles on our 2007 Jester's this season. You only hear about the problems here, not that the vast majority are trouble free.  Besides, like any new product, the problems will be rectified over time (hopefilly by the time our bikes come in). My Duracell is due to ship 10-15.

Go for it!  I really struggled with my purchase prior to pulling the trigger.  I haven't been remotely sorry since.  I'd never bought any vehicle or bike new before (ever).  If it's not working out for you, you can recoupe most of your investment.

I agree with all of the above, buy the 08 SEUC you will love it!  Have had an 07 for almost a year without any real problems - with the new brakes, ABS, tank size, drive system etc. I would do the 08 purchase.  Enjoy!

I am also considering the 07 Dyna to play with/let the wife ride. Should I avoid the 07 dyna?
