How to richen the TC110 w/o the Race Tuner
« on: October 12, 2007, 05:37:54 PM »

Has anyone tried the Night Rider approach to richening the 110 from 14.6 to 14.2 without using the HD Race Tuner?  If so, did you splice into the oxygen sensor wires (without soldering), or make an adaptor to plug in-line without cutting the oxygen sensor wireing?  To buy the proper plugs from Harley is rather expensive for an experiment.  If no one has tried this yet, I probably will out of curiosity.

man, get a tuner, you need to manipulate timing curves and tune cylinders seperately also. all that money spent and you gonna take short cuts????????????????/

I am very familiar with the RT and have tuned quite a few bikes.  As my post indicates, I am curious about others experience with this little bit of trickery.

sorry, misunderstood. you are looking for the resistor trick.

IMO, this "little trick" is attempting to do what maxxing the CLB Tables with the SERT is accomplishing.  Investing in an extra set of stock 02 sensors to modify would be my first consideration.  Also think a Dyno or SERT would then be required to actually measure the results.

It depends on the year.  The 2007 ECM harness will work with a Power commande, Fuelpack, DFO Techlusion (marketed under different names.  All of these bypass the 02 sensors in one way or another w/o splicing.
2008 means new versions of most of these.  The DFO Techclusion piggybacks on the injector connectors and 02 connectors for a clean install.

There are many long and expertly updated topics on this issue for sure.

To get a 110ci up in performance you NEED TO CHANGE TIMING A LOT!!

I guess I'm not being clear with my question.  If you get a chance, take a look at the "resister bridge" that the Night Rider web site is suggesting (see the link in my original post).  I'm only looking for someone who has tried this particular scheme, and what their opinion is.

I think you're right, no one seems to understand what you were asking.  It looks to me that this resistor trick will accomplish the same thing that some have done with the SERT, namely cause the engine to run at 14.2:1 AFR in closed loop mode, rather than the stock value of 14.7:1 AFR.  This is nothing new, folks have been doing stuff like this with auto systems for ages.  For someone in a situation where they couldn't add a tuning device (?), this little trick would sure beat the heck out of running totally stock.  If anyone wants to try it, I would suggest trying to buy some connectors and make up an inline jumper rather than chopping up the stock harness.

I talked with Steve Mullen {freind} from www.nightrider.com a couple of days ago ,and he will be sending me one of his new 'plug-play''  that takes AF to 14.2 - 1 . You unplug the 02 sensor {its around 10" down from the sensor} conector and plug his in. Very simple ,no wire spliceing. I think he said it will sell for around $50. My dyno of my 2007 Springer is on MSN harley tech talk ,under dyno's. That is after I put in the Andrews 32H cams ,with stock FI. At WOT it was running pretty close to 13.5 - 1 ,but at cruise ,it was running 14.4  - 14.9 so I want to try this. Bike runs great , I just want to richen it up a bit.

That's very good info, thanks.  I'll give it a try also.  Harley is paranoid about denying warranty claims if they see an RT on their "Digital Tech"

Sure hope you do OK with these fires. Looks like you are in a path that is a repeat - over Six Flags Magic Mountain where an outbreak started once before. Simi Valley is that path again! Good luck to you!!
