Scrapes & grinds on left turns
« on: March 02, 2005, 09:31:21 PM »

Just picked up my seeg2.  I know it's lowered but I was surprised by scrapes and grinds on left turns...I think from the jiffy stand.  Anyonelese have this problem?

MFG's second suggestion is the permanent fix.  Most of the SEEG's on this site are wearing the Progressive 440 shocks in either 12 or 12.5 lengths.

Add air to your rear shocks first, if that does not help switch to progressives.

Do yourself a tremendous favor.  Just switch to the Progressive shocks.  The stock air shocks are unfortunately poor along with being prone to leakage and, therefore, requiring regular maintenance.

The Progressive 440 shocks will (not kidding) make the bike ride so much better you will be surprised by the amount of difference you'll feel.  It will be more stable, it won't bottom out anymore and it'll handle better.  Girls will also like it better (if they ride on the back they really will).  Also, it takes less than a half hour to install them and it's easy.

Strongly consider the 12 1/2 shocks for replacement.  Overall perception of the bike doesn't change and you gain a bit more clearance.

I put on the 12.5 Hd Progressives. The ride is a lot smoother and they reduced the scraping to some extent.
I have found that the more you grind the jiffystand in a turn the more clearance you get.

That scrape is your stand.  I also endorse the 440's but don't give in to the temptation to use the 11".  I did.  And although the ride IS better... I didn't get the full benefit that the 12 or 12.5 would've given.   [smiley=beerchug.gif]

jstartz, be sure to do a search here if you haven't found the threads on the Progressives.  We have a veritable encyclopedia of information on the site here regarding this upgrade and many others you might be considering, as well as answers to just about any question you may have about your new scoot.

Welcome to the site! [smiley=beerchug.gif]

Progressives all the way. I put on the 12.5's after a little too much scraping in a hairpin at Deals Gap last summer put me down. Haven't given up riding aggressively and haven't scraped since going to the Progressive 440's.
