Barry, we are so sorry to hear of this but he is very young and "youth" is good to have on your side - hoping he heals well.
If you need anything just ask.

Just FYI, I left a VM on JR's home phone today.  Not like him not to answer the cell.  Hopefully, everything's OK with him. :nixweiss:

Barry, I was so glad to meet you & your Daughter in H.S. I know you believe in the Power Of Prayer & there is a lot of us Praying for Josh, you & your loved ones. Even in bad times we have a lot to be thankful for & Praise God for. Josh is still alive, so there is hope he will make a full recovery. I lost my son Josh 4 years ago next month. I miss him terrably, but I know He's in Heaven. That's the only comfort I have in the matter, & knowing someday I'll be reunited with him. Our Prayers will continue to head your way. If there is anything we can do don't hesitate to let us know. God Bless You & Yours. Later, Linny

I talked to Barry yesterday and his son is in good spirits. He still can't move his legs, but he does have some feeling. I'd think that's a great sign! He sounds worn out.

I just spoke to Barry and told him how much love and support and the bike load of prayers being said for Josh! He sounds pretty tired but he's hanging tough. He wanted me to express his heartfelt thanks to everyone for all their thoughts and prayers and I told him that I would update the site.

Josh is in pretty good spirits. I learned that the back of your spine controls feeling and the front controls motor function. He's starting to have feeling in his hands and just a little bit in his lower extremities. Barry and Karen are fotunate to be in the medical field in some capacity so have the best people helping them. Josh is already doing whatever physical therapy they can have him do to keep things from "locking up" A big concern is infection and blot clots so they're got him on antibiotics and have put a filter in to prevent clots. At this point he is stable. With the feeling coming back (thankfully!! at this point pain is a GOOD thing alerting to other injuries) they've also discovered that he broke his sternum and scapula. Again, everything that can be done is being done and Barry says that he's pretty much in "limbo" as it takes time to assess all the damage and his biggest fear is that he won't ever walk again. That remains to be determined and all thoughts and prayers are welcomed with open arms and appreciation!

And for those that asked, Jessica is in there hanging tough like her dad!

Thanks to everyone for their concern and postive thoughts! I'm trying not to intrude often but I know that it's important to all of us here to get up to date information to continue keeping Josh in our thoughts and prayers!

To all,

Cant thank you enough for your wishes and prayers... just got in from the hospital and I am very tired. But seeing all the posts are like get well cards in the mailbox and are very much appreciate.  Josh is stable and about the same as Cheri explained earlier in the post. We really want to see him move his toes!!!

He was a little grumpy tongiht...which is a good sign!!! He is getting more feeling back each hour.

This is the hardest thing I have had to face in many years...your prayers and thoughts are priceless!!!

Thank you all so much!!!
