neutral indicator stays on
« on: October 23, 2007, 07:10:48 PM »

Has anyone had a problem with the neutral indicator light staying lit in gear? I had this problem when I first purchased the bike. Dealer first repaired and then when the problem returned, relpaced the neutral switch. Now a year later the problem has returned. Light came on this past Saturday and stayed on all day in all gears. Next morning the light is back off again and working fine only coming on in neutral.

It could be that the neutral switch is going bad again.  I would try wiggling (twisting)  the 2 wires that plug onto the neutral switch first to see if there is a bad connection.  If you have a chrome cover on it, take it off and make sure it has not rubbed one of the wires bare. Then, back to the dealer.  It is not an uncommon problem, just an irritating one.

First thing I would do would be to unplug both wires from the neutral switch to see if the problem is a shorted wire. Depending on that result, you'll know whether it is the wire or switch.
