Ok, that's too funny.  If I'm Plumpick you've got to be one of the inmates.  And you know who has returned :huepfenlol2: .  Now the only question remaining is will Lancelot chime at midnight :nixweiss: ?

actually it does sound like a movie most of us would enjoy

Plot summary
This 1966 film, directed by Philippe de Broca, stars Alan Bates as Charles Plumpick, a kilt-wearing Scottish soldier who is sent by his commanding officer to disarm the bomb.

When Plumpick enters the town, he unknowingly leaves the door to the insane asylum open while being chased by the Germans. When the Germans have left the town, all of the inmates leave the asylum and playfully take over the town. The adorable lunatics coronate Plumpick King of Hearts with surreal pageantry as he frantically tries to find the bomb before it goes off.

The film ends with the question of who is more insane, those in the asylum or the soldiers on the battlefield.

Neal, I'm probably ten years too young to have seen its heyday.  But I saw it during the continued run it held at small theaters for years.  Just a guess, but anyone who is old enough to have had a draft card or (like me) who is old enough to know he was close to getting one when the draft was ended probably knows or knows of this film.

It's also got one of my all time favorite movie lines.  Howie, you remember who is disappointed they don't get to burn the town?  And what the German commander tells him while sitting in the barber chair getting his shave?

Howie, hadn't thought of this flick for a long time.  But with the all the current events and the long duration conflicts I'm amazed it hasn't started showing up again at midnight screenings and coffee houses.  It certainly would allow a certain set a platform for discussion.

Actually, I don't remember the details. It's been sooooo long ago since I've seen it. I don't usually remember much about movies/shows I've seen. Binx is alaways amazed that I tell her I'd like to see something. Then she tells me we already saw it. I tell her that we didn't, but I know she's right. ;D But it's cool seeing something again like it's the first time you saw it. ???

At least this one I clearly remember seeing. I remember that I thought it was a great movie. But the details are still vague. At least I remembered the title and that Alan Bates was the lead. Neal reminded me of the plot line and it brought some more of it back to me. Now that this is in my head, and Binx has never seen it, I gotta see this movie again! :2vrolijk_21:

Amen, Don.

Being Prime, Grade A, Meat in 1969, and actually having a draft card that said 1A for a while, plus coming from steel worker stock...being scared chitless,  I saw the movie in local "hip" venues in the day.  One of many movies that had a profound impact on my thinking at the time.

Cuckoo's Nest was another...
