Slip On Mufflers
« on: March 07, 2005, 03:57:01 PM »

Would like to hear what slip ons SEEG riders are using and satisfaction with them.  I have Vance and Hines slip on ovals and am not particularly happy with them.

I have the Screaming Eagle Slip ons. But not the ones that come on the bikes. I think they're OK. Not too loud but still deep. They have got a pretty good tone on the 103 motors. I listened to about four different slip ons at the dealer on other bikes. Vance and hines, Cycle Shack, and Samson. I liked these the best. Just my $.02 [smiley=laugh.gif]

I have the Python slip on mufflers.  I like the sound/noise.  The're pretty loud especially when your on it hard.  The dealer did a down load for the SE slip ons.  I haven't had it dynoed yet but it runs way better than it did stock.  It has the open air box too.  The Pythons cost around $300 bucks [smiley=cool3.gif]

Thanks to all for your responses.  I am researching the BUB Rineharts (the website didn't show the Freedoms.)   I had Screamin Eagles on my Road King and was happy with them although those who ride with me recently told me they didn't particularly like the sound.

I could be wrong but I don't think you can get a Rinehart slip-on, only a true dual system.  For me, that ain't a bad thing...love that Rinehart sound in stereo!

Mr We CVO has the hooker slip ons. He likes the sound, but not happy with the blueing on the right pipe or the popping on decel.  I don't think he would reccomend. He can't answer.... he is out of pocket for a few weeks, but he likes my pipes, the 2 into 1 V&H. [smiley=nixweiss.gif]

Thank You Mrs We CVO and Elvis.  Good info.
Elvis I believe you are correct on the Rineharts.
Mrs We CVO, I haven't heard the 2 into 1 V&H.  I'll be patient for now and keep my eyes and ears open for fellow FLHTCSE riders to see what they have.

Spring is just around the corner.  Looking forward to riding on a regular basis.

I have the one-piece SE slip-ons and am very happy with them (sound quality and noise level).  Also, no bluing whatsoever even after 7,000 miles on the SEEG and roughly as many on the '02 EG Classic I had prior.  I have ridden an '04 SEEG with Rineharts and the sound is surprisingly similar them, but without the distinctive true dual sound quality.  If you're looking for slip-ons only and not an entire system like the Rineharts, consider these.

As far as what your friends think, try not to put too much weight on their opinions.  You will be the one living with them on the bike, not those guys.  Pick something that makes you grin! [smiley=cool3.gif]

Thanks 103tHunDer and Screamin.  Do either of you recall the part number for the pipes?  I had some on my Road King that I liked real well but would like to know which you have.
  thanks D

D, I have the slash up (follows the bag lines), part number 64924-99.  I have heard that the slash ups have a freer-flowing baffle than the slash downs.  I don't know this for a fact, but this might explain why mine seem to sound better the slash down SE one-pieces I've heard.  The slash downs have a "tinnier" sound.

Here's a link to some photos of my bike with these mufflers: http://flhrsei.org/cgi-bin/yabb/YaBB.cgi?board=cv_pics;action=display;num=1079237782;start=0#0

Good luck with your search for pipes.

i had the wide ovals, with my stock header pipes and the basanni power curves.
they sounded nice, but i don't think they work too well with the 103 motor.
sold them to a friend with an evo. made a big difference on his bike.

103tHunDer and kng103.  Thanks for the information.  Feedback indicates the V&H ovals don't work well with the 103 motor.  I'm looking into the HD SE options.  The HD website suggests some pipes for the motor.  Will also talk with a couple of my local shops (private and HD) for their suggestions.   Will keep you advised via the site.

BTW, you both have fine looking bikes.  103tHunDer, really like the spoiler.

Have a great day.
