I thought I was the only one that had these type of projects that go on and on and my 6 helpers come and pull me away for whatever the current issue of the moment needs my attention!

Hope you get it fixed soon.  Sounds like Bessie is in good hands.

So what the heck happend to the squirrel anyway?

Brian, if that comp nut was stressed and cracked in the area at the end of the threads on the crank it sounds like you could blame it on the tight chain. I know you have a lot of things going on there but don't overlook the crank. I would have it checked for runnout and magniflux it for cracks, keep in mind it was put in the same stress situation just as the nut was, the nut was just the weakest link. As long as you got the thing all apart it would be and easy check. Boy I feel for you dude.

They did tell me that the little guy is doing fine and will be released back to the wild in 6 days. I hope it makes it :2vrolijk_21:

Yeah, we did that once and that was what they told us, then we found out all they do is the the "E"  :-\

The tech at Baker thought that the chain with this modified of a motor should get at least 50,000 miles on it before a replacement is needed. I only got 25,000 miles.

So they gave you a chain at half price since it only lasted half as long as it should?

Roy.....

Will check the runout today. Still working on getting the compensator sleve off.

When we get the sleve off we will magniflux it.

Sometimes things happen for a reason and it sounds like you had several issues that can be taken care of now.   Good luck and keep us posted.

Brian,

What's the latest?  ???

Well let's see....got the compensator nut off the hard way, grinding little by little till it fell off. Tried to install the left side case and crank on a 16 foot lathe. The whole thing was too catiwampus for even this big lathe, so back to the cave man days. ha ha

Once we got the comp sleve off with the grinder, everything just fell into place. The crank looks by the naked eye, not to be hurt. Are sending it off on Tuesday to see if everything is OK with it.

Left home on Friday around noon and delivered the trans, oil pan, left and right case, cylinders and heads, along with some misc parts, to the powder coater in Moncks Corner SC. Droped them off at 8pm on Friday and headed to Oviedo Fla to where Crash is.

Picked up the motor and trans from Oviedo. Will tear down that motor, the trans has already been rebuilt, and start with the transformation with that one. Might as well have 2 down bikes at the same time.

Got home Sunday morning from the big road trip. 1800 miles in 48 hours. Man my ass hurt less than this when I did it on Bessie :huepfenlol2:

The powder coater said he would have everything done by the day after Thanksgiving, which is great because Kathy and I go to Charlestown for Thanksgiving. I can pick up the parts from him on Friday and leave there and drive to Oviedo and pick up Crash from the painter. I hope everything really does fall into place for this trip, like this weekend did :2vrolijk_21:

Guess till Thanksgiving the only thing I can do is to look at all the parts laid out for the 2 bikes and well just look at them :huepfenlol2:
Plenty of time from now and then for you to buy stock in Crown Royal. Lots of time for me to do all I can to help their stock price rise :drink:

Picked up the motor from the powdercoater, well actually he brought the parts to my Uncles house for me. Now that is what I call service. Great looking job. Cases are silver and jugs and heads are cobalt blue. I had the heads and jugs done with a clear coat over the blue. It gives it a deeper color and should be alot easier to clean.

Installed all new bearings and races in the cases. Pressed the crank into the case and bolted the two halves together. Started looking at all the other parts and damn if the TB doesn't have a crack in it. This will be the third time this TB will be sent back to Horsepower Inc.

Put the trans gears back into the case. Now just waiting for the new belt to come in to the Stealer. They tell me it was ordered 3 weeks ago, yea right.

So now at a stand still again, waiting for parts to get shipped.

Misc motor parts, some may never have thought that there were so many parts in one of these motors
