Fellow Rider,

I am suffering from the exact same disease.  06,07,08 SE Ultras.  However, I can underwrite that you will love the 08 better than any others.  I don't know exactly what it is but it is quieter, runs better, rides better and with the ABS stops better plus thank goodness for a box big enough to carry something! This is a keeper!

Good luck with the new bike!

Usually the cure for the FLHTCUSE is a wife. :huepfenlol2:

I was lucky to get one in the last three years.
She would say "What's wrong with what you have?" and "How much money will we loose in selling yours?" as well as "How much is the new one?"
I say if your family can afford it and that is what you truly want go for it.
Before joining this site I though CVOs were the ultimate Harley that people saved for a very long time to buy and it was their dream bike and in turn were so in love with it they never wanted to part with it.
Boy was I surprised how often these bikes are sold.
Seems like the stock bikes by many only more expensive. ;D

Man I know that's right.  10,000 questions...........all requiring justification.  Well, I sold the idea last year, but lately with everything I've been doing to it, I don't think that chit will float ever again.........which is fine.  I'm happy with what I have.  Don't want a new one, BUT...........I'd love to have another 06 SEUC.   :2vrolijk_21: :2vrolijk_21:

You know 08 won't be the end of the line. 09 or 2010 will see a new motor, maybe water cooled, a new frame, and we will all want the new bike. I can hear my wife now. My next HD will be a water cooled bike, second year of production. I'm not fighting water cooled bikes. It must happen. Hope it comes out before I get too old.

I'm afraid there are only three known cures.  All three are broad spectrum therapies.  They can be used in any combination of 2 or all three or are equally effective individually.  I must warn you that these modes of therapy have debilitating side effects......  They are 1) unemployment, 2) bankruptcy, and 3) divorce.  BTW, they aren't covered by insurance either and are quite expensive....

Ok.  I must be in the minority here in more ways than I originally thought.  I figured I'd get a standard Ultra instead of the CVO this year.  Then my wife looked at the CVO brochure and said you should get this... No quid pro quo.  She just said it makes sense.  And no she didn't want to ride on it herself.  She rides her own '07 Street Bob.  So here I am riding an '08 that isn't excessively hot with 6000 miles in 6 weeks and no leaks so far and a wife who's idea it was to get the bike in first place.  Hmmm. Am I lucky or what!

Now, the problem is of course is OCD.  ;D

I figure this is a disease that they should never cure. Oh, and BTW, you can save the messages telling me the leaks are coming.  I know.  I'm a firm believer that Murphy of Murphy's law fame is my ever present passenger.  I'm just figuring he's letting me run my mouth before he gives me the sucker punch.   :-[

The only 12 step program that works, in this case, is when the urge to buy another SEULTRA occurs, take 12 steps away from the order form when asked to sign.  :2vrolijk_21:

My wife encouraged me to buy the SE since she watched with amusement as I put this 'n that on the 02 RK for a couple of years.  The bike I had planned to leave "stock" that was stock - for about a week as I recall.  :huepfenjump3:

Hey Iski, I like the twelve step program.  I told my wife I was pretty sure I was getting a bike.  I showed her the sales brochure on it.  I promised that I had financing set up so that it wouldn't effect our quality of life at all but I was still on the fence because it was such a selfish purchase.  She said, "What are you saving your money for, just do it!".  I made her promise to never bring it up when times get tough.  Of course that was a stupid request.  She does it all the time.

I never told her how much it was.  She found the receipt on my desk after I made the deal and nearly had fit.  She ended up trusting me with my ability to crunch numbers.  I'd do it again.

Hey George - my wife knew the SE cost upfront and knew it would be less than what I would have spent on a stock Ultra - we've been married for 33 years so she knows stuff like that.  She does bring up the cost at times but as wimmens know -  whats ok for her isn't ok for me.  Not that I ever understood that - it's just the way it is.   :huepfenjump3:

Just as you said - I'd buy the bike again but might have waited until the 08s but never figured HD would offer an 08 version.  No regrets. Well, almost none.  ABS woulda been nice......

There is no cure  ::)

I'd buy another CVO in a heart beat!  In fact, the wife picked this one out and I'm sure will be with me when I buy the next one.
