Sometimes you get what you pay for. Would hate to save a few dollars up front to only find out later that quality wasn't there and end up having to put the black one back on or spending the extra cash to get another chrome starter. :nixweiss:

I don't know anything about that starter, but that Ebay vendor is, IMO, one of the worst ever.  Mostly, they sell cheap knock-off parts, and their customer service is non-existent.  In fact, they are down right nasty to deal with.  I had a very bad experience with them, and I believe that I remember others from this site having similar past experiences.  I would RUN AWAY from any dealings with them.  There are two Ebay vendors that I refuse to do business with, and that is one of them.

That's good enough for me, consider my interest gone!

Maybe if one was installing them himself, but that's not my case. :( I only will pay for it to be installed once. ;D

I bought one of these a few months ago to use on a 95" TC with 10.5 CCR and it wasn't satisfactory at all. The reduction gear is noisy, sounds like there is absolutely no lube on the gears. I wondered every time I started the bike how many more starts there would be. Another thing: that starter will drag a battery down very fast and if it is already somewhat weak, the ECM will shut down at the reduced crank voltage and the bike will just grind - no start. The fields are wire wound, so much current is required to deliver the 2KW that they claim. The starter housing is longer than the stock starter, so the stock rear exhaust bracket doesn't fit on the Dynas. Also, the starter is not packaged very well. It is simply dropped into a cardboard box and shipped from the factory. The chrome looks OK and would look fine if the end cover hadn't rubbed to chit against the inside of the box. They're too cheap to put the starter in a plastic bag or some kind of anti chafe cover to protect the chrome.

You guys are correct in your decision not to buy - and I'll second it! It's a basic piece of junk and that's why the price keeps coming down.

Yep, sounds like the same poor quality of the mirrors that I bought from them a while back and had to file a PayPal claim to get my $$$ refunded.  What were advertised as "billett show chrome" were ultra-cheap scratched-up, dinged-up chinese knockoffs.  Another example of "get what you pay for".  Never again with those bozos.

While I have no personal experience with this vendor, after reading the info on his ebay site I would tread very carefully.  Number one, the price quoted definitely falls into the "if it seems to good to be true, it most likely is" category.  Number two, the statement about not bothering them with phone calls for information is a big red flag (and a really stupid thing to tell someone you want to sell something to), especially when they say all the information is available on the web page and then under description there is no data.  Number three, their return policy is basically that they accept no returns.  Good luck dealing with them if the part doesn't fit or doesn't work.

DEAR CUSTOMER:
We spend more time on the phone answering questions, than we do building bikes and filling your orders.
We ask all customers to respect our time and read the written description closely prior to calling for answers which is already in the ads. (PLEASE READ THE AD 2 TIMES BEFORE CALLING).
Thank you for your courtesy!

I wouldn't do it. I just installed a cheap chrome starter and now I am replacing my ring gear and my pinion gear. :'( Wish I would of listened to my buddy when he told me it would be junk.

Yup. I'm convinced!  Still looking for that middle ground between the MoFoMoCo's rip off price but good quality and the cheap price and terrible quality of these things...  :nixweiss:
