« on: November 06, 2007, 12:10:37 PM »

can you fellas post your milieage...my bike has new tappets and tensioners and the twin cam(tapping) seems louder then usual...i did put on my lowers,,maybe I'm listing too close...called the dealership and they told me wth my milieage my motor is getting(out of spec?)...and the valve train noise will get lowder..will all that gear drive and (fueling) stuff make this iratating noise go away??..if I decide too go that way..thanks....57,000 miles and still going(for now)

I have 25,000 on my 2001.  Just had the cam chain tensioners checked- dealer said they were "ok".  My motor seems to be a bit more noisy these days but I just installed a Supertrapp SuperMeg 2:1 which is a lot quieter than my old exhaust so maybe I am just noticing noise that was masked by my exhaust before...  Wish I could be more help.

16,100 on my SERG.  It's a heckuva lot quieter than my 103 SEEG with 575 gear-driven cams, Feuling lifters and Zipper's pushrods, so I doubt that stuff would help your 95 in the noise department. :nervous:  The 103 sounds about like solid lifter '67 426 HEMI, which is to say "noisy."

If you just put the lowers on after an extended period of running the bike without them, I would be willing to bet a lot of what you're hearing is just the noise that's always been there, only it's being reflected back at you now instead of going forward and out to the sides.

Just curious . . . why did you have the lifters replaced?  Shouldn't they have still been OK at that mileage?
