Thanks Brian. I'm planning on getting the fairing and bags today, maybe fenders too. When I was there yesterday, they were sanding the fairing and still had yet to do the bags. They wanted me to get the finished parts because storage space for small parts is limited in their shop.

Great!  We can look forward to more photos tonight then! :P :2vrolijk_21:

That would be me and HogBreath.  :bananarock: The only tool I don't have is the vehicle alignment tools, but I can get it close enough and let the dealer tweak it. I may be able to borrow them, but probably not.  :(

Besides switching out the bars to the W1's, no.

I haven't thought much about it and don't want to seem self indulgent, but would it be helpful to do a pictoral for a frame-up assembly? Would you guys and gals want to see that?  :nixweiss:

I don't think I can match the thoroughness and professional quality that Don produces, but I'll give it a shot.

Chuck, there will be time you're not yet accounting for adjusting tolerances for powder coat thickness and doing things like tapping holes that accidentally got filled with powder or paint.  That and things like cleaning parts during assembly will take time.

As well as you can guess right now though how much time are you allowing for total reassembly?  Making it a full weekend chore?  Or more of a task by task assembly over multiple sessions and days?

I will look forward to it as an educational pictorial.  How my bike is put together.

I can barely do more than start it, drive it and put gas in it.  Seeing the frame, and the engine go together will be very interesting.

If you did not mind taking the pics, resizing and then posting, I'd be happy to watch.

I'm allowing two full weeks. I'm pretty picky about how it all goes back together, every bolt hole gets chased detoxed and blown out etc., Ken has expressed an interest in coming down for a weekend visit when we can get major components installed. If I gets parts in beforehand, I'll be able to work on sub assemblies ahead of time. A pair of extra hands for the motor will be a blessing.  :2vrolijk_21: I don't plan on spending all of their visit down in the basement. I look forward to it being fun for everyone, so we'll have plenty of time to goof off.  :)

Sounds like an excellent prosecution of the project.  Breaking it down as sub projects with time in between makes it a lot easier.  Couple of times have had to basically just take a breath and put a project together from scratch over a Saturday and Sunday.  That crossed the line from fun to stressful and annoying in a hurry.  Hobbies and fun aren't supposed to be that much of a chore.

So who bellies up to the motor; you or Ken?  Got the motor and tranny separated yet?
