advanced audio update
« on: November 07, 2007, 04:37:59 PM »

I did the update but the  instructions say "Verify the software version number is now "ST10v8.19.0" and "TMS320v8.19.0"  but my radio says for the ST10 version 8.9.0
Anybody else have this happen?

Looks like the update did not take.  Try running it again.

OPERATOR ERROR...failed to completely read the instructions...apparently it is important that the radio be in FM mode prior to performing the update...oops

Where do we get an update, and what part of the system is it updating (radio, XM, intercom, CB, navigation)?

It's the "what part" that is often worrisome.  The updates are released relatively regularly through the Advanced Audio site the D00d cited in the post above.  Rarely, however, is there any description at all of what the update is intended to gain or improve.

Since at least two of the updates have been a bit buggy in the past, and caused problems that didn't exist beforehand, I've been more comfortable with the "if it ain't broke then don't fix it" approach.  Mine works fine.  Hasn't been updated for quite awhile now.

Sure as hell it'll start acting hinky tomorrow now.....

I spread the word that there's an v8.19 update to my friends and was told that it may not be stable also.  I have an '08 cvo ultra and I checked the version, it's v8.19.  I guess we'll have to wait and see.  So far it's fine.  If anyone has any info on what problems it causes, let us know.

The 8.19 update was released March 15-2007. It's a software patch much like you update your PC . it fixes or tweaks things that most HD riders may or maynot use about the raido. (example) AVC Function, Screen display issue's, CB volume- Finding out from HD is just as easy as getting any information out of HD. Update it or don't update it, after all it belongs to you so you can enjoy it like it is.

I installed it back a few months ago and have had no noticeable issues...radio still has a mind of it's own about whether it comes back on in the AUX mode or the last thing I was playing, when I have the GPS plugged in.  No method to that madness that I can figure out.

The update site listed above: http://www.cvoharley.com/smf/index.php?topic=17842.0 , will give the 8.19 update.  Hog Tunes site: http://www.hogtunes.com/softwareupdates.htm , will give a choice of all previous updates as well as 8.19.

yeah well for me I was trying to fix the fact that the nav system had no clue about what direction I was traveling...I was happier before I loaded the nav software without the compass...it is kind of like a clock that is wrong, when you look at it, it just kind of pisses you off.  anyway so far the update seems to have corrected the compass error...but I am not holding my breath...h-d stands for half-designed
