How big is the SEEG tank, for real
« on: March 13, 2005, 05:02:09 PM »

I am not used to riding alone, but today, I watched my gas tank go lower and lower, and was really waiting for the light to come on before filling. Finally, I was done for the day, so last thing I did was just top off the tank.  Well my top off was 5.51 gallons. I thought we had a 5 gallon tank.  When was the light going to come on?  Got me to wondering, what is the tank capacity?  [smiley=nixweiss.gif]

If I fill up as soon as my "low fuel light" comes on then I can put about 4.8 gals. in.  I have run it so low that it took about 5.4 gal. and the motor had died and I coasted into the station.

OK, I am so sorry.  I am supposed to wear glasses, especially if I want to really see anything.  I saw the 5 gallons correctly, but studying my receipt this morning, I see that I only put 5.051 gallons.  Still would have thought the light would have come on, but I feel so much better hearing that all of you have put much more than the actual stated 5 gallons. I know, hanging head, on an electronic fuel system, it is much better to keep the top half full then the bottom half.   [smiley=nervous.gif]

I don't trust the low fuel light either. I look for gas when it hits 1/4..when I first got it the low fuel light came on and I figure 1/2 gal +- left...went 10 miles and it ran out as I was pulling into a gas station...squeezed 5.3 in. They can re-adjust the float to make it more accurate..not worth it for me to have it in the shop.

I've never trusted a fuel gauge nor the low fuel warning light on / in any of my vehicles. They, IMHO, are the most inaccurate devices ever created. Good stuff knowing we can get 5.3 gals in. I always reset my tripometer at fill up and rely on that. BUTTTTT w/ only 88 miles on (winter sucks) I'll need to figure it all out when the temps. rise. Good luck on the warning light thing.

Dang!  I wish that I'd known of the over-sized gas tank option when I got my b&b seeg.  It would be great to have that extra fuel capacity that ya'll have on those long runs.  Did they somehow put a surpentine filler neck in there to keep the outside dimensions the same yet offer the increased capacity?  Does it have a part # ? I thought you folks were on crack until I filled my tank this morning after running with the low fuel light on back and forth to work for 2 days.  I put in 5.16 gallons.
