iPod question
« on: November 10, 2007, 07:32:16 PM »

Just got an iPod for the bikes.
Plug it into the jack on my 03 Classic with radio on and music stops and iPod works.
Same on Nancy's 03 Classic.
Plug it into the jack on the 01 SERG, music keeps playing and iPod doesn't work.
Any thoughts on why it doesn't work?

Plug and play is a great concept, except when it doesn't work.
Now I'm lost!

HELP!

Silver, I went thru this last year also and after removing the cd player and all the wiring I still couldn't get my mp3 to play. Listen, it is so easy it is rediculous. After all this screwing around I went to Best Buy and they sell a thing that looks like a cassette tape with a wire coming off of it for about $15 dollars. Plug the wire into the mp3 and put the cassette in the bikes cassette player and the music comes out the bikes speakers. It's so easy a caveman can do it. I believe the unit was called a cassette adapter and was a Monster brand.

You need to use the select button on the handlebar to select the Auxilary input.   On the Harmon radios, it usually recognizes it right away and starts.  The older radios were manual.

I agree, mine works fine when switched to AUX input. Doc  00 SERG

I just tried to connect an IPOD to my 2000 SERG and there is no AUX input to select, instead it displays CD. I can here the click from the IPOD when I adjust the volume, but no music. Does this mean my 2000 SERG radio is configured for the CD changer even though it doesn't have one?

Was just scanning some non-current threads and saw this one.  Doc, mine behaves like yours.  Greg's must also as I remember him mentioning having the handlebar mounted MP3 player.  Wonder if the one mentioned above was replaced at some time in it's life and happened to get a radio for the 01 with the CD deck?

I used it today again and found out I didn't have to do anything but just plug it in, and it recognised it as a CD player. I guess the 00 radio doesn't have the issues...or at least the red ones don't:2vrolijk_21:  Doc
