Brake light/turn signal conversion
« on: March 14, 2005, 12:31:58 PM »

I am looking to install the Harley brake light/turn signal conversion kit ('05 parts & accessories book page 676.)  They have  a flat lens style and a bullet lens style.  My '04 SEEG needs the bullet style but the book says that kit will not fit the '04 or later FLHTCSE.

Anyone put one of these on their SEEG?  How did you do it?

Thanks!

I put these on my 03 SERK which the part also said would not fit. There should be no problem, use the kit for the bullet turn signal.

I've found that lots of things work/fit that the book says won't.   [smiley=nixweiss.gif]

I think I got the answer after a visit with my dealer/service guys today.  They say there is no mechanical/electrical reason why the bullet kit will not work.  According to them, the book says it won't work to cover H-D's backside because, according to some DOT regulations, you are not supposed to have the three lights that close together.  That's why the older brake light/turn signal conversion kits came with spacers that you put in to spread the lights apart on the models with the short light bar.

I bought it (dealer has a 20% off sale this week!) and it looks like a no brainer to install.  Guess I'll take my chances with the DOT!
