International Motorcycle Show
« on: November 13, 2007, 08:10:20 AM »

The International Motorcycle Show is coming to Toronto Jan 4-6th.  The local dealer is sponsoring a tour bus from the parking lot.  The convention center in Toronto is ENORMOUS!.  Is it worth going?  What is Harley's presence at such an event?  What kind of vendors typically attend?  I've never been before and I'm looking for input.  The bus portion is $25.  The admission ticket is another $20 or so I believe.  Of course there'll be $5 burgers and $7 beers.  Will the savings from vendors help to offset this?  I'm looking for input.  It sounds big.

The IMS is a good show. We get ours here in Atlanta in January. Lots of vendors and the MoCos have their hardware there too. It's a good way to kill an afternoon.

It's typical stuff, pretty cool to check out.  I bought some leathers there about 7 years ago, they are still in good shape too.  It's every kind of bike too, so you see some rare exotics.

Thanks Chief and Mike, I'll have to organize the posse......

I asked the dealer if they would have a keg on the bus.  They said, "what they don't see they don't know" but it's ultimately up to the driver.  It's a little over two hours to Toronto so I'm sure a little kibble and a little liver preservative will be packed......   :pepper: :pineapple: :cucumber: :jalapeno:

Just went to the IMC this past weekend in Fort Worth, Tx.  We enjoy going and attend every year. I hold off on purchasing some items until the show due to good prices and the ability to try stuff on and make sure it fits. Three years ago, I bought a Gerbings heated jacket liner. Wound up with a special order size that i would have never chosen on line. Last year, I got the pants. This year I wanted a new riding jacket and maybe a new helmet. Got both.  Tried on 4 Jackets and bought an Olympia, then after looking at several helmets I chose the Shoei Multitec.  Cost for the show here is $13 and motorcycles park free. About a week before the show, Progressive Ins Co sent me a $3 off coupon. Aslo, most of the dealers have $2 coupons as well. You'll enjoy the show and the booth babes ain't bad either.   :P

Bonus I hadn't considered yet!  Thanks GC.  I think I better start saving now...

a few of our Nia. Falls HOG members went last year.  said they were not very impressed.  keep in mind the Canadian dollar is up now. I drive truck back and forth to Hamilton a few times a week,,, most places I stop are charging me .15 cents on the dollar for using US funds.

I had considered that.  It's amazing.  Last year, I got 20% exchange rate in Toronto.  I'm thinking it might not be so much a great deal to go and buy things but more to go and see what's available and try stuff on.  That way I can go to web sites and buy stuff later without losing the exchange.
