NEED HELP, BUB 7 FL TD, RD TD OR COBRA 4" TRUE DUAL
« on: November 13, 2007, 11:28:25 PM »

I need to put exhaust on 08 SERK.  Like the looks of the 4" Cobra true duals, do not know of anyone with a set.  Spoke to BUB's about BUB "7" FL TD released 8/07 (have not seen a set of these either), have a set of RH's on the 06 SEUC (no problems).  Preformance was quoted a little better on the RH's tha BUB 7FL, due to three step sizing on the exhaust tube in lieu of two. Will be installing a SERT and AF along with the pipe install. My initial thought was RH's, SERT, AF.  Open for comments, need help.

I'd try the Bub 7's if I were you. Three weeks ago, I installed a set of Rinehart TDs with SERT, SE A/C on my 08 FLHRSE4, and I'm getting 98 hp and 115 ft lb. I'm pleased with the Rineharts, but I think the Bub 7's look better, with their unique end caps and shape. I'm sure they'll produce as good or better numbers than the RTDs, and you'll be the first on your cell block with a SERK with Sevens!  Way cool. :2vrolijk_21:

Thanks, was there any problem with the RH and the brake pedal, understand there is an addition part to make proper connection.

My vote would be the Bub 7's with the crossover.  From the RH side they look like a 2-1..  When you look at where the rear pipe attaches to the exhaust port, the pipe is made like a TD and then has the crossover (the stock head pipes are the other way around).  I'd go with their latest product offering.  We need a guinea pig.   :)

No problems. When I picked it up from the dealer, I asked Hiro the installer/tuner about clearance issues. He said "no problem". There's only one thing I don't love about the RTDs - they're not quite loud enough. No joke! They make a really nice subdued rumble, and they crank out the sound when you get on it, but they could be a little louder. Listen to this Cobra system - I heard one of these the other day and it sounded awesome.

I have ordered a set of Cobra 4" slip ons w/ Billet end caps to hook up with VH TD set up.  Should have them by the first of next week.  Will let you know how they sound.
Currently running RHTD on other bikes.  Wanted to try something different.  The Cobras seemed to made very well.  Talked to one of their guys at the IMS in Ft Worth a couple of weeks ago and he said they are garaunteed against bluing for as long as you own them.  That should be a test.

I love my Rinehart's.    Love the sound.  I had no fit problems at all.
Have you heard the BUB 7's?  Since your not going with a 2 n 1 system for performance, the sound and looks are important. Can't go wrong anyway you go...a SERK looks damn good regardless.  ;)

For true duals, I think Rush is an great low end grunt producer with one hell of an awesome sound.  I never knew what I was missing until Dennis put them on Thumper.  I've always liked Vance & Hines pipes.  In fact, my headers are Vance & Hines Dresser Duals.  I used to run SE Pros, which were OK, but I'll keep the Rush mufflers for now.  I've never been a Rinehart fan except when I go to a NASCAR race.  They're awesome pipes...................but too popular.  I can't go anywhere without seeing a set.  And those purple end caps just irritate the chit out of me.
The only thing I don't like about the Rush mufflers is it feels like everything that gets on them bakes on them.  They have a gritty feel even after cleaning......but they LOOK smooth.

I had the Rush 2.0 on my EG and really liked the way they felt and sounded. Best bang for the buck out there. I just installed the Bub 7's w/crosserover on my SERK and in the next day or so will install the stage 1 AC and SERT. The installation went well... everything fit fairly well and the mufflers themselves are a work of art. Haven't ridden it yet, buy they sound awesome. More to come.

After discussion and pondering, we are going to try BUB 7 slip ons, SERT, AF.  Mechanic/Dyno tuner suggested.  He said they have been losing some HP using the true duals, but likes the std crossover. I am schedule to have work done on Friday.  Will post results.  If not satisfied will convert to TD.

I know this is a little late about the Cobra's, but if someone is interested.

They look great.  They have real nice sound at idle.  They definately made a difference in the way the motor ran.  It seems to have freed it up.  It actually runs like what I thought a 110 should run like.  Deep, low rumble.  But when you give it the gas they are loud.  They may sound okay behind an 88 or 96, but behind a 110 they are loud.  I have Rineharts on the SEEG and my RK and the Cobra's are louder than they are.  I am running them with V & H TD's.

But today, I pulled the packing out the mufflers.  They have about 700 miles.  I was told by the Cobra rep if they were too loud to buy some 4 cycle muffler packing.  I bought some today.  I cut the sheet of packing in half and put a half in each side.  Much better.  The idle is a little more mellow.  When you get on it it still talks, but not nearly as loud.  The package the packing came in says the packing is good for about 30-40 hours of riding.  I don't know how many miles that equates to.  But we shall see.

I installed the BUB 7 with the crossover, along with the SERT and the se air cleaner on my 08 SERK. I haven't had it dyno'd yet, the dealers needs repaired. I have noticed that the bike runs alot better, it jumps up to the red line in a flash. The sound is deep and when you get on it, it growls. I'm really happy with the look, finish and sound. I can't wait to have the bike dyno'c. Hope this helps.
