Back on the Dell. I really like my 15.1" monitor but I need something smaller to travel with.

Dell dude showed up yesterday, and replaced my mainboard.  STILL no worky.  Supposedly I'll receive a box via DHL tomorrow, in which I'll pack my broken machine sans hard drive, and return to Round Rock.  They're shipping me a refurbed one.  We'll see what happens.

I really hope this works out for you because I'm leaning hard towards the Dell. The smaller 12" & 13" are just a little too small for me. I've really become accustom to the 15.1". I'll be using the Toshiba all next week while my Dell is being refurbed so I'll get a good test drive.

Hacintosh used to be real common machines.  Here about them less anymore.  Last one I had a reason to do was a G4 box.

And if you missed it back in 1984

Hummm.... Actually I have one Dell desktop, Toshiba Sat. laptop, Two HP laptops, iMac which runs both XP and Mac X, and that doesn't include my wifes iBook and G4 system. I like the iMac the best for I can run both XP and Mac 10 operating systems at the same time using Parallels. Dual monitors so I can run on both...way cool.  And..the XP doesn't  crash!!!

If the Mac wasn't an option, which laptop would you choose?

Got MY computer, not a different one, back from Dell today.  They replaced the mainboard.  Reinstalled the hard drive.  Powered up.  Works just fine.  Good to have my machine back.  Think I've gonna buy another 2 years of warranty just in case.  I've never had to deal with a total failure before, but I'm now seeing the value of a longer warranty for this system.

I've had the Toshiba Satellite (spelling??) for a couple of years without any problems. I like the HP line also. I've purchased many HP's over the years for my employer and not one has had a problem. I usually end up replacing them after 3 or 4 years to keep up with the times. I've worked on all kinds of laptops at one time or another and none are easy. I had one that kept turning itself off, but found that the two heat syncs under the laptop had clogged up and just needed to be cleaned out. If it happens, let me know and I'll tell ya a quick way to clean 'em. Works most of the time without taking apart.

Well, I'm waiting to ship the Dell back until the new Palm Treo 755 comes in in the morning. The Treo went south on me & I need to reload it before I ship out the Dell.

I have the old POS too, what is it about us CVOers?   :nixweiss:  We must be the best thing these companies have ever found :huepfenlol2:

I do like the Treo though.
