Oh My!  :o  Just watched the weather showing 2ft of snow in Buffalo, NY  :'(

Forecast shows 75 degrees here Wednesday.  Susposed to cool down here by the weekend - only in the low 50's

That forecast was for 40 miles south of Buffalo (Ellicottville, NY).  Buffalo didn't get any today.  I just came in from going out with some friends for MNF and there was an inch on my car.  My brother got about a foot today but the area from the forecast got 2 feet (and schools were still open).

Lake effect snow is an amazing thing.  I could see a solid wall of clouds to the south dumping snow from Lake Erie and a solid wall of clouds to the north dumping snow from Lake Ontario today while the sun was shining where I was.  A change in wind direction and it would have been an inch/hour for me.  It stops when the lakes get cold but we deal with it very well in November and December.

I guess Al Gore needs another Nobel Prize!  There's nothing like a few feet of snow the first part of November to make you realize, stupid is as stupid does.

I think I need a Nobel Prize for discovering that "seasons change".  Isn't THAT profound.

But the snows are receding on Mt. Kilimanjaro and the indigenous people depend on the continuous runoff to thrive.  (you been watching Today Show this week?).  How do they explain the thawing of the ice age 20,000 years ago?  Mastadon Flatulance?  Now THAT'S a carbon footprint!

Mastodon flatulence is the reason to NEVER EVER light a smoke while circling a mastodon.  ;)

Couldn't help myself. One of the best games, forgetting the outcome, I've seen on Monday night for a long time.

With no OSHA work safety rules posted on the side of their caves, more than a few cavemen learned that lesson the hard way.   ;D

It will be 21-25 degrees tonight in and around our NoFL abode.  In preparation for this, I disconnected the garden hoses.  Winter sucks.

Yesh, this cold front has driven me to apply the winter turf fertilizer to my lawn...And go buy some adult beverages suited for sipping by the bonfire.

It is nice to only mow once every two weeks now versus every 4-5 days during the "wet"...

Will not need to mow until March or so.  That is one advantage to our harsh panhandle winters.  I will mow up a few leaves & rake some pine straw sometime in Feb. maybe, depending on my mood.

With the stock market doing what it is doing, I have decided to invest all extra money in booze, ceegars,, and motocickles and maybe trips to some damn place where I can invest in sunscreen & beach attire.  I am planning to retire while still working but so far that plan is not working out.....

Jim,

I have actually experienced "Lake Effect" snow here in Oklahoma.
It was few years ago while fishing a bass tournament on Lake Texoma (Oklahoma/Texas boarder lake) the first week of March.  We had a couple of weeks of very nice spring like weather and then the morning of the tournament a cold front came in and the temp that morning was about 20 degrees.  The sun had just came up and we were waiting for take off.  The sky was perfectly clear, but there were snow flakes the size of quarters falling from the sky.... pretty weird.  No real accumulation -- just a light dusting on the deck of the boat and it stopped after about 15 minutes.

Sure glad we don't get the real stuff y'all get up there
