What's ur holiday egg nog mixed with?
« on: November 23, 2007, 04:21:11 PM »

Not a huge fan of mixed beverages - however, I was wondering if there are any members with suggestions as to what to mix with your holiday egg nog?  :-\    I have used both whiskey and rum previously.  :drink:

Good call on the Irish whiskey.  I prefer bourbon or brandy.  I've turned into a bourbon snob.  I've tried a lot and keep coming back to Maker's Mark.  With brandies, they are graded.  We've all seen the VS, VSOP, and XO.  XO is the top grade.  Most stores have the 375ml bottles of the top shelf brandies to try.  That way, if you don't like it you aren't out $35 for a 750ml bottles.  Share your recipe when you find the best one!  I think you should keep the photos to yourself, this site is PG.

I've had it A LOT.  I like it a bunch.  When you're spending $30 a bottle or more they're all good.  I tried Jim Beam (white label) a while back and it was a little bland.  The black label is VERY good.  Thanks for the tip.

Irish Mist or Celtic Crossings...    an excellent nouveau-british anglophican type choice that has a very nice flavour, good kick, and no discernable "bite", so you can light the ladies up well without them making "those" faces...

Drambouie is also very nice, but leaves a harsher after taste, so the boys will like that a little more, the gals a little less....

at least that's the way it works in my house...     ::)

I'm a big fan of the Maker's myself, even enjoy their c-gars!! Not often the house is without either!!   :2vrolijk_21:  I see a slight trend with the Irish Whiskey, may give that a try for something new. Thanks for the insight  :drink:

Man about the only thing I could possibly imagine that would be sweeter than eggnog with Drambouie in it would be Pecan Pie and whipped cream.

You Rebs got a thing about sugar don't you.
