Race Tuner Malfunction
« on: March 20, 2005, 01:28:26 PM »

Has anyone had software issues with old vs. new race tuner software?   My bike has been in the shop since March 5th for a dyno tune.  The ECM refused a baseline map the tech tried to install.  Now it will not accept any map at all.  The key (black box) has been sent to Harley for diagnosis.  The dealer called yesterday and said they got my key back and that there is a software conflict.  My original race tuner software is V3.5 and the new one is V4.0.  Any thoughts?

NOTE:  I bought my race tuner last fall and installed the 103 SE map myself with no hassel at all.

Dirt Bagger,

Shrader will know the answer to this.  I will call him and tell him to look at this on the computer.

The whole set, box and cables are all at the dealer.  If they give me back the originals Monday I'll let you know.  BTW Harley said my dealer must change his software also.  I know they dyno around 7-10 bikes a week... said this is first time they have seen this.

Thanks,
Doug

MFG,

Thanks for the links. [smiley=beerchug.gif]  After having a look at them, I think the tech tried to load a baseline map of their own making that was created in V 4.1.0 into my bike that already had a SE map from V 3.5.0  I don't know this for a fact but I would bet on it. I would say the dealers do a bit of copy and paste between bikes with the same mods.

SHRADER,

Yes, they were able to download and program the ECM after the black box was sent back from H-D.  The bike dosen't backfire or pop at all on deceleration.  I made a point of accelerating over a few hills and coasting down to see if it would backfire or pop on occasion as before.  The bike did not backfire or pop at all.  Just seems different to me like I said. A jake brake kind of feel, like light brake pressure being applied.  Might just be my imagination though, being I had been riding the other bike for two and a half weeks.

I posted the dyno sheet in the dyno thread.
