08 FLHTCUSE3 heated seat question
« on: November 26, 2007, 09:24:42 PM »

I have never come across this before; has anyone had any issues with the 08 heated seats?  Mine puts out extreme heat. I can have it one low and within 5 minutes I have to turn it off as it is "burning".  :-X I was up in Ohio a couple weeks ago and went for a ride in 30 degree weather.........thought the heated seats would be a nice addition, only to have to turn it off to keep from leaving marks.  I can only run it for a minute or 2 then turn it off and raise my butt off the seat to cool it down.......I have been told I have one hot looking A$$ ;D...........LOL  but this is just uncomfortable.........anything thoughts?  I am too afraid to try "high"........lord only know what I can do on that setting; maybe cook an egg or a couple small eggs  ;)

I would say that you have a defective temp regulator if it's getting hot enough to put marks on your a$$ :o

That, or it's a personal issue, and I don't want to know... :huepfenlol2: :huepfenlol2:

It is ironic for HD to provide us a heated seat on the 08 SE Ultra.  My wife and I rode on a very cool if not cold morning.  I commented that the seat felt warm, even hot.  I discovered the seat heater was off (accessory switch off and heater switch on set was off).  The temps coming off the engine and cross over pipe may as well have been a campfire under our rears.   :o

I think this was common last year about this time with the 07s seats heating up to much. Do a search of what some people did? My seat on high is to much heat but low is about right. Goodluck.

I alternate between low and off.  On real cold days I leave it on low.  My female passengers (daughters or wife) like the rear control on high.  They're in the wind more and find it more comforting.  The main reason I wouldn't switch to a Corbin is that it only has one control.  I'd have to suffer the heat of the passenger then.

I would bring it up w/ your dealer. A friend of mine is a tech at BMW and they have had seats actually burn through because of faulty regulators. I leave mine on low and it isn't bad, but high is a bit much for me.

Turn it on high initially but then have to back it down to low.  Low is usually just about right but even high is not as hot as what you describe.  Have your dealer check it out.

I have new 08 SEUC.  Even here in Texas the seat is not too hot.  Very comfy set to low on a 50 degree morning.

I had the same problem. Not to mention the seat looked like crap after 3 weeks out of the dealer. Went to a Corbin,
looks better, feels better & heats much more evenly albeight it only has a single switch for rider & passenger.

Like jgeorge102 said, I didn't get a Corbin because it has only one switch.  Renea loves the heated seat, and this time of year, she wants it on, high at first, then backed off to low.  I "might" turn mine on low, but not often.  I'll say this though...........if Corbin comes out with a dual switch, I'm there.  I like my stock seat, but during the summer, on long rides, it gets pretty uncomfortable.  The gel pad helps, but that's just one more thing I gotta keep up with.

First of all, I'm dealing with the same HOT seat problem.   As a test, I turned the seat on with the engine off and the ignition on ACC.  I monitored the voltage at 12v; the seat worked fine, not too hot.  However, when running, the voltage is close to 14v and the seat is way too hot. I suspect it's just bad engineering and we have to live with it or change to another seat.  The regulation is either poor or doesn't exist.

Second, Corbin CAN do a duel switch seat.  My buddy has one.  At first they said no, but he said it wasn't acceptable, so they put a second switch in.

Now that's just too cool.........not literally, of course..........and some great news.  Do you have specifics?  Who'd he speak with?  Price?  Thanks so much for the info.   :2vrolijk_21:

Yessir.  Wonder was this a "one off," and if so, how expensive was it............or do they now do it standard?
