Right Rear Speaker Box
« on: November 28, 2007, 02:11:45 PM »

Had to replace the right rear speaker box on Thumper, since the original got a tear in the pleather on the outboard side.  When it arrived, I noted a slit in the pleather on the bottom, which I first thought was a tear..........but it is located below a hole in the plastic moulding.  I checked the original speaker box, and while it has a hole in the plastic moulding, there is no slit in the pleather.  HD says this is the way they're all made now, but couldn't give a reason.  The speaker box was installed on my tour pak and the slit and hole were filled with a plastic rivet.  Anyone know what that hole is for?  Drain?  It's about 5/16".

I'm not a Dr. but I'll take a look.....    I think it's for draining unwanted sound from the right speaker.  It has a tendency to accumulate if used on low volume for extended periods.   :nixweiss:

By my 2006 HD FLHTCUSE Parts Manual, the P/N for the right rear speaker box is:  76397-06.  It was ordered and installed for me, however I got to look it over before it was installed.  Hope this helps.  Oh..........I'm told this P/N is the same for KTP even though it was shown and installed on LTP.

Thanks for the wellwishes for Springer.  He's doing really well now.  We'll likely go for a light walk later this afternoon.
