New Headlight & New Spotlights
« on: March 21, 2005, 09:18:43 PM »

In a thread called "New Headlight" a conversation was started about the projector type headlight.  I hadn't noticed it before, kinda liked it, and wondered if anyone else had seen it before.

The thread turned to both that new (to me) headlight and some new-ish spotlights available that do a nice job of matching the 05 headlights.  So the examples for the spotlights don't get buried in thread that is non-topical to them and perhaps missed by someone that might like them here's a new thread to cover both.

Am taking liberties here with RRSteve's pic of his bike with the new projector headlight and the new spotlights with vertical reflectors.  It's what re-posts here:

And posting here is the new spotlights with the vertical reflectors that match up to the look of the stock 05 headlight with the stock 05 headlight still in place.  So we've got a comparison against each of the nice new headlights.  This pic also has only one of the new spotlights and one of the stock pieces still installed to allow a comparison between the two when seen with the headlight.

Now if anyone is like me and has trouble making up their mind on this crap at least they've got something to compare by  [smiley=7.gif]

Twolanerider, do the fluted spots come with a replaceable halogen bulb or are they a sealed beam unit?  Oh, and thanks for the pic's.

OK, Twolane, whats it gonna be? Made up your mind yet or are you going to ride around with one of each for a while? Too bad we don't have dual headlights so you could run one of each of those for awhile.

Went ahead and put in both new spots Steve.  Your picture sold me on that.  Still undecided on your headlight though.  That trim piece I stuck on my front fender mates so nicely with the stock headlight's little bar and shield emblem I think I'm staying with the headlight the way it is.

I think I am........

Maybe.

I have the same emblem on my fender Twolane, and went through the same indecision. I bought the spots and the headlight when they first hit the market but couldn't decide on the headlight and didn't put them on for a couple of weeks. I finally decided to put it on and try it for awhile. I like the lighting and it does have the Bar and Shield emblem in it on the top bulb. Too bad they couldn't paint it black to match our emblem. I'm guessing  it would have burned off. In any case I decided since I paid the big money for it I would give it a try and the appearance is growing on me.

This is a great comparison on the lights and I like the trim piece, too.  Is the trim a MOCO part?

my question is,,do the new spots actually brighten things up a noticable amount?
for the sake of matching the looks im goin to replace them..but the benefit of a brighter road ahead is always a BIG+     [smiley=cool2.gif]

Yes, it is a moco part, here is the description and part # from online catalog:

Bar & Shield Front Fender Spear - Large

This chrome-plated trim spear adds a sweeping dash of chrome to the front fender. Featuring a raised "Bar & Shield" logo set against a textured black field, this self-adhesive medallion is easy to install.

Twolaner - give us a better picture of your spear and shield on your front fender. Was thinking of doing this, saw it on a cobalt blue SE in a past thread, but haven't seen it on a candy cherry. Looks pretty sharp.

Here's a pic from a couple months ago that shows it better:
