OK, Anne had to attend a holiday party with a vendor and dragged me along.....damn I had fun! All the competitive junkies here would have a blast. The party was at F1 Boston, an indoor complex in Braintree, MA.
http://www.f1boston.com/I raced on Track 1, the city course. Never been in a go cart in my life and I was an F1 virgin so I didn't do to great but still had a blast...
Race 1:
I started in third position and finished the race in fifth but was able to lap three other racers so I felt it was a pretty good first effort. best lap time was 27.47 seconds of the 10 lap race. Took me about 5 or 6 laps just to learn the turns and to avoid the walls...avoiding the walls helps you maintain speed. Iwas also warned once for what I have no idea.
Race 2:
Started this race in last position, eleventh. I finished the race in ninth so I consider it a decent showing. Also improved my best lap time to 24.84 seconds of the 10 lap race. Got stuck behind someone for the first 4 laps unable to pass. This is the next step in the learning process...passing aggressively and bumping the people out of the way without being penalized is the key. My heart was pounding and was breathing hard but rythemetically once I got past lap 4 and got into the groove of 25 second laps.
Will definately have to return some day this winter for the adrenaline rush!

they also have an outdoor course not far from me that I will have to try next year.
