Rush Mufflers
« on: December 04, 2007, 01:37:07 PM »

I installed some Rush slip on mufflers on my 08 SERK last night. Man those things are loud.
They have the 2.25 baffles in them. I ordered the 1.75 baffles from the place where I bought
the mufflers. What do you folk think, will the 1.75 baffle quite the beast enough but still
be loader than the stock pipes. I wanted a little more volume but I don't want to offend the
neighborhood. They do sound great though deep ,low rumble. Might be a bit irritating on a
long ride. I'll let you all know what the 1.75 sound like on the 110 motor. I'll then put my
SE A/C and SERT on in the next couple of weeks.

I did the exact same thing you are doing. The 1.75's are too quiet. I ended up the the 2.00's They are a tad bit on the loud side, but nothing the the 2.50's. I was embarrassed to start my bike with those things!

How did the various sized baffles impact performance of the engine?

Good question. I have nothing to judge my opinion on other then " seat of the pants" feel. I felt very little difference between the 2.00 and 2.50. A huge difference between the 1.75 and the 2.00. Just my personal experience.

This is going to sound like a dumb question but did you switch out the muffs and start it in your garage / driveway and rev it a few times or did you ride it around the hood?  it sounds a lot different when you're on it.  It's actually possible to "outrun" the sound behind you on some of the bikes here (a 200hp turbo, blue, Vrod comes to mind).  Don't make a final decision on the sound until you've had a chance to ride it a bit.  With the recent weather in Oregon and Washington I'll bet you haven't had much of a chance to do that.  Don't forget the stock pipes are REAL quiet.  Any change will be shockingly noticeable.

;D your funny Spiderman. I quess it would be all the Californians that have moved up here to retire. I managed to get it out on the road between the rain drops. You can sort
of out run the sound. I don't know how they would be on a long drive. I have not heard them yet with a half helmet either. They sound really good. The wife says they make the bike sound  bad ass. I'll have 1.75 baffles in hand today and I'll let you guys know the difference. Mike S at Latus Motors  says their is very little performance difference
on the 1.75 vs 2.25 on stock motors. He said the bottom end torque numbers are better on 1.75 even on the SE. The 2.25 and 2.50 show better top end performance with
motors performance upgrades ie. cams, throttle bodies and heads.

Since I'm running Rush mufflers with 2.25" baffles, I'll confirm this theory.  I love 'em.  They're "just right" in all modes of operation.  They're quite loud off idle, but it doesn't take long to outrun the sound.  Very nice sounding mufflers/baffles with plenty of torque and power.  I will agree that when idling in the driveway, they are quite loud.........but in a very pleasant sort of way.

Talked with Rush Tech before ordering, and with a Stage 1 it was recommended to use the 1.75 or 2.00 for the touring bikes.

I went with the 1.75, and IMO they are perfect.  Nice rumble at idle and cruising, but will wake up the neighbors when cranking the throttle.  And they will get a bit louder with use.  Realize sound is very subjective, but some may want the 1.5s since they are quiet a bit louder when compared to stock.

Excellent company to deal with.

What up, my Brother Hillbilly?  Just bought our Race Car Driver a new "Fat-Bob", from Mike's, a couple of weeks ago.  Ordered some Mod's for it, and will bring it back down there to have them installed, sometime before we go to Daytona.  Maybe we could hook up there, and BS for a while.  Please advise.  Merry Christmas to you and yours!  :2vrolijk_21: Later--HUBBARD

the rush baffles can be pulled and more packing can be installed to quieten them. silentsport or moose racing make great packing that can be purchased at your local dirt bike shop.

just an FYI

Hey Hub!  How you doin'?  Long time no see............ ;)

Would definitely like to hook up at Mike's and shoot the breeze.  Seems we've missed hooking up several times, so let's make this happen. Just shoot me an email or call the Office (304) 235-6078 and I'll take time to run you down.

Best wishes, and Merry Christmas to you and the fam.

Just had Mike S at Latus Motors install my SE A/C and
the SERT. I left the 2.25 baffles in and the more I ride
with them the better they sound. I may leave them in.
Thanks for all the input
